Wilson Middle School Mock Trial - Collin County CHAMPIONS!
We are pleased announce that the Wilson MS Mock Trial team came home with a victory! They competed in the Collin County Bar Association's 8th Grade Mock Trial Tournament and the field started with 19 teams; 4 teams came back to the Collin County Courthouse to last Saturday to compete in the semi-finals, and we ended up in the finals. The final round proved to be challenging, but our students were so poised and ready! And we won it all!
In addition to the many awards Wilson won Friday, Brady Farrar picked up another best witness and Ella Dry picked up another TWO best attorney awards.
The students pictured below contributed to the team's overall success and the dedication of the students was impressive.
Finally, we would like to add that several people on campus supported the team. First, Mrs. Cain, she helped by reading through the statements and picking out important information that drove our questioning. Ms. Dobrott, Coach Crouse, Mrs. Schottleander, Mr. Trevino, Ms. Vasquez, and Mrs. O'Mahony were incredibly valuable in assisting the team. Thank you!

Solar Eclipse - April 8, 2024
As most of you are aware, Dallas, Texas, and the surrounding metroplex, will experience a full solar eclipse on April 8, 2024 (eclipse totality will last from approximately 1:40 - 1:44 pm). This is a once-in-a-lifetime event for our students, as there is not predicted to be another total solar eclipse in Dallas until after the year 2251 (although there are predicted to be two annular solar eclipses in September 2165 and October 2238). Plano ISD has purchased solar eclipse glasses for all secondary students and teachers in the district. Wilson students will be given the opportunity to go outside on April 8 to view the eclipse. The Plano ISD Secondary Science curriculum writing teams have worked to put together some pre-eclipse and during-eclipse lessons and activities for teachers as well as a pre-eclipse lesson to go over safety.

PISD Tip Line
Plano ISD maintains an anonymous tip line to allow parents, students and community members to report concerns affecting our campuses. This includes threats, bullying, drug use, suspected abuse or neglect and any number of other concerns that may affect the physical safety or health of our students.
ID Badges
Picture retakes were on September 29th, so all students should have an ID badge on a lanyard. ID badges are required to be worn at all times. Please help your students remember to bring them on a daily basis.
Plano ISD policy states: "Students in grades 6–12 shall wear an approved student identification (ID) card while on school grounds and while aboard District school buses or other District-provided transportation. Wearing student ID cards may be required at school-sponsored or school-related events as determined by the campus principal. Students may be excused from wearing ID cards during classes where doing so presents a hazard to student safety. While on school grounds, at other District facilities, or at school-sponsored or school-related events, students shall provide access to their ID card to any staff member when requested.
Student ID cards shall be worn on a neck lanyard so that the front of the card (photo side) is visible over the outermost layer of clothing. No sticker, pin, or other item shall be affixed to the front of the ID card. Any neck lanyard provided to students by the District shall have a breakaway feature."

Before School Supervision
With colder weather already here, we just want to remind parents that morning supervision for students begins at 7:50 a.m. Regrettably, opening the doors earlier isn't feasible. This is due to staffing limitations and the necessity for teachers to drop off their own children, which restricts an earlier opening time. Thank you for your understanding.
After School Supervision
Just a friendly reminder, after-school supervision ends at 4:05 pm every day. Please ensure that you make suitable arrangements for your child's pick-up. Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring the safety and well-being of our students.
Food Deliveries
To maintain a safe and structured school environment, we kindly request that parents and guardians refrain from arranging third-party food deliveries for students during lunchtime. Additionally, please note that we will not be able to call students down to the front office to pick up their food deliveries. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a focused and secure learning environment for all students.
Crosswalk Safety
Wilson Families,
Please take a moment to remind your children about the importance of crosswalk safety as they navigate their way home from school. Encourage them to always use designated crosswalks, look both ways before crossing, and obey traffic signals.
