Go Fund Me: Support Ms. Frei
Ms. Frei is a beloved teacher who helped open Mountain View High School and is still working despite a difficult medical diagnosis. You know her because she has been promoting MVHS events, sports, and activities through creative posters, banners, t-shirt designs, etc. that she helps create in her Graphic Design courses. Ms. Frei has been working through routine cancer treatments for the last six months after being diagnosed with breast cancer. These treatments exhaust and interrupt daily life routine, making the simplest chores such as meal prep difficult. In order to help this single mom know she is loved and supported, please do what you can. Anything helps from a note of support, a dinner, or monetary donations. Our goal is to help Ms. Frei tackle mounting medical bills while making sure she knows her community cares for her.
Teacher of the Year & Classified Employee of the Year
Lan teaches in Mountain View's Special Education Department. She is positive, upbeat and always smiling. Her dedication to students and their success is something to celebrate. She works so well with students and their parents, always bringing the best out in everyone works with. She has students in her room before school and during lunch, putting their needs before her own. Lan Edwards has earned and more than deserves to be announced as Teacher of the Year! Mountain View is blessed to call her a Maverick and her students are lucky to have her. Thank you, Lan Edwards for all you do for MVHS!
Classified Employee of the Year: Janet Brooks
Janet is a positive ray of sunshine and fills the office and our school with joy. She is always so welcoming to visitors or subs. She brings the MAV spirit to games and events. She is amazing at making sure every class is covered, even if there isn't an available sub. She makes our world go round at Mountain View! Since the beginning of the year, she has been working to create a cohesive and welcoming office. She remembers what teachers are in or out, which rooms, subs etc. at any given time. She also manages the concessions-always knowing which group is working and what their needs are. She does all this while caring about each staff member knowing all about them/their families with a laugh and a smile! Also, she is always willing to help anyone- no job is too dirty or silly and she always put MVHS first.

It's a new semesters, so it's a fresh start for tardies! If your student has more than 3 tardies (T or TL) in a class, he/she will need to serve detention until the number is back to or below 3 per class.
We play music with 2 minutes remaining in the passing period, this is the signal to students that class is starting soon. Students, please be on time. Guardians, please speak with your student about the importance of not being late.
Lunch detention for 4 or more tardies. The limit per class is 3.
Lunch detention is served on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Attendance
- Taking a Trip or Vacation? If you know you are going to pull your student out of school for a trip or vacation, or any extended period of time, please have your student pick up a Pre-Approved Absence sheet from the main office. This helps us track attendance and helps your student get organized in their classes prior to being gone.
- If you need to check your student out, please do so by calling the attendance office ahead of time. To get your student out of class, please call 45 minutes prior to the time you will be here to pick them up. If your student has an appointment in the morning, please call the day prior to the appointment. We appreciate your support!
- If a student is absent please call the attendance line to report their absence.
- Students that are in quarantine will attend school remotely and will not be marked absent.
- Our school funding this year is based on attendance. Absences = less money for Mountain View High School. Please be in class. Teachers will be instructing bell to bell for maximized learning opportunities.

Check out substitute information here.
A bonus will be given each month if you work 10 full days or more.

COVID Information:
Illness at School
If your student is feeling ill at school, and they text you, please be sure to have your student report to our health office. It is important that the school nurse be involved and the nurse will contact you if your student needs to leave campus.
Thank you!
Feeling Ill, Please Stay Home
Please see the childhood illness page to help you decide if you should come to school or not. If you stay home, a guardian should call the school's attendance line and let them know you are out for illness. Then students should check teams for assignments and work on class work.
