Reading's Quarantine Learning Framework
This document is intended as a proactive measure to help teachers, parents and students better understand what to expect if we are confronted with a whole-class or whole-school quarantine.
GET TO KNOW...
- KRISTIN KAPP is a special education teacher at Reading.
- She grew up in Ogden.
- Her favorite book as a child was Crictor by Tomi Ungerer.
- Her dream vacation would be a trip to Hebgen Lake in Montana - this is her heaven on earth!
- People might be surprised to know Mrs. Kapp was an Artist-in-Resident for years before starting a new career teaching Resource. She began here at Reading and LOVES this school and everyone in it!
- As a kid, Mrs. Kapp dreamed of getting married and becoming a mom and teacher and grocery store checker. Now, with self-checkout, all of her dreams have come true!
GET TO KNOW...
- PEGGY STRONG is a special education teacher assistant at Reading.
- She grew up in Springville, UT.
- She cannot choose a favorite book - she loves all kinds of books, especially mysteries.
- Her dream vacation is anywhere there is sunshine and a beach. Mrs. Strong's rule is if she has a take a coat then it is a "trip" and NOT a vacation.
- People might be surprised to learn she once camped on top of Boulder Mountain in Southern Utah for two summers as part of a road construction company where she was helping build a road on top of the mountain.
GET TO KNOW...
- SCOTT HUGHES is the principal of Reading.
- He moved all over the place until elementary school, but eventually his family settled down in Taylorsville, UT.
- His favorite book as a child was Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein.
- His dream vacation is someplace with a beach. He wants to LOOK at the ocean, not necessarily get into the ocean.
- People might be surprised to learn he was originally a journalism major. When he realized he hated all the journalism classes he was taking in college, he decided to become a teacher which he'd secretly always known he wanted to do.
