Chancellor's Message
If you haven’t already heard, a total solar eclipse will traverse North America on Monday, April 8, casting shadows across the United States, Mexico and Canada. This rare celestial event occurs when the moon blocks the sun, creating a temporary twilight across all Earthly areas in its path.
Here in Orange County, the phenomenon will be observed as a partial solar eclipse that will start at 10:15 a.m. local time and peak at 11:13 a.m., when the moon will cover 34 percent of the sun and end around 12:15.
Any talk of a solar eclipse usually begins with an admonition to avoid looking at the sun — and for good reason. Viewing an eclipse directly can be extremely harmful to our eyes. Please talk to your champion about the dangers of looking into the eclipse tomorrow. I have included a link to some safety tips:

International Day
We are very excited that one of our special OPA traditions is right around the corner - International Day! International Day is a day to celebrate the cultural diversity of our OPA community. We need your help!! Our families participation is crucial to the success of International Day. How can you help? We want you to share your culture, by providing cultural food donations, volunteering at your country’s booth, having your child dress in traditional cultural attire, and/or having your child share a cultural performance.
International Day will be held on Friday, April 19th. Please sign up here for student cultural performances, volunteering, and food donations. Cultural performances could include singing, dancing, presenting fun facts about your country/culture, or musical instruments. Please consider signing up if your child is interested.

OPA-SV Family Request for Assistance
In our ongoing commitment to supporting the well-being of every child in our community, we want to ensure that families feel empowered to seek assistance when needed. One way to initiate this process is by completing a request for assistance form. This form serves as a vital tool for families to communicate any concerns they may have regarding your child's behavior, emotions, or general mental health. By filling out this form, families can provide valuable insights that enable us to offer targeted support tailored to each child's unique needs. We encourage families to take advantage of this resource as we work together to foster a nurturing and supportive environment for our children to thrive.
Homework Heroes- Tips to Empower Learning at Home
Use Positive Reinforcement: Consider implementing a reward system to motivate your child to complete their homework. This could be as simple as earning stickers or points towards a special treat or privilege.
