SLVUSD is looking to gather feedback from our families regarding our Academic, Communication, and Learning Environment goals. We anticipate the survey will take from five to seven minutes to complete. The valuable feedback that you submit will provide the district and the site with important information as we plan for the 2024-25 school year.
The survey will be open from Monday, March 11th through Friday, March 29th.
As a little incentive, the schools will receive additional site discretionary funds for student/teacher resources based on the percentage of parents that complete the survey for their site.
The breakdown for the financial incentive is as follows (percentage represents participation):
10% = $1,000
20% = $2,000
30% = $3,000
40% = $4,000
50% = $5,000
In addition, the site with the highest percentage of completed surveys will receive an additional $5,000.
All SLV schools are excited to engage in a little fun competition. Each site is ready for the challenge and believes that it will be their parents that will achieve the highest percentage of completed surveys.
This is the third year that SLV will offer an incentive for survey participation. A little reminder of the previous winners follows:
2022 - SLV Middle School
2023 - SLV Elementary School
2024 - ???
Who will the BIG winner be for 2024? REMEMBER ~ Just 5-7 minutes of your time can push your student's school to be the BIG winner that earns additional funds for your student's classroom!
New Monitoring System for Google Accounts
SLVUSD has a new monitoring system for student Gmail accounts and school-issued Chromebooks.
Please remember your student Google accounts are NOT PRIVATE. Chromebooks and Google accounts belong to the school district. And it is monitored.
LineWize monitors and sends alerts immediately out to administrative staff when a concern is raised about bullying, threats, hate speech, profanity, and/or inappropriate material (among other topics).
It will also alert administration to mention of self-harm in order to let us know if a student may be at risk.
LineWize will flag what students put on a gaming site conversation, social media, even a search bar. Your email, your google drive, your google chats.
Anything students have signed up for using your school account is monitored and flagged for inappropriate use.
And they will send us screenshots or entire conversations with your email and the emails of others on the chat.
Important things for students and families to be aware of;
- Students are responsible for their OWN school-issued Chromebook.
- Do NOT walk away from your open Chromebook and/or let someone borrow it while logged into your account. You will be responsible for anything typed into your settings.
- School Chromebooks are for school business. Do NOT use it for games, chat groups, or looking up material not related to a school assignment.
- These accounts are not private and any concerning statement searched or typed into a Google product (search, Doc, Drive, etc.) will send an alert to the site admin, the IT team, and a district monitor adult.
The alerts range from minor to severe and are taking a lot of time to investigate when we get an alert (it has been averaging 3 times per day since last Monday).
Be mindful of why we have these devices and the purpose of your school account.

Important updated information vaccine information for 5th and 6th grade families~
Prior to 7th grade entry California law, Health and Safety Code 120325-129375 requires that your 6th grader must receive a Tdap booster vaccine. By law, schools are required to collect vaccines information, monitor immunizations, and enforce vaccine requirements for school. Additionally, the California Health and Safety Code requires the District to notify parents of the recommendation that pupils are fully immunized against human papillomavirus (HPV) before admission or advancement to the eighth-grade level of any private or public elementary or secondary school. HPV vaccines can be given starting at age 9 years. Talk with your healthcare provider or school nurse if you have additional questions.
