CCRPI
Dear SHE Families,
This week, the Georgia Department of Education released the 2017 College and Career Readiness Performance Index (CCRPI) for all schools in Georgia. The CCRPI is the way the Georgia Department of Education measures schools and school districts and gives them a rating on a 100-point scale. We are pleased that our score is trending upward. Our 2017 score is 89.1, reflecting a slight increase from our 2016 score of 88.6.
While our score exceeds both the State elementary score of 73.9 and the Fulton County elementary score of 77, we recognize that there is much work to be done to ensure that our CCRPI score reflects the quality instruction that is taking place within our classrooms on a daily basis. Consequently, we have an opportunity to utilize this data to identify where we excel and where we still need to make improvements.
The vast majority of the CCRPI score derives from student performance on the Georgia Milestones End of Grade (EOG) test. Our test data indicates that we have high achieving students that need to be mindful of their attendance, improve achievement in the areas of math and social studies, and demonstrate overall student growth. As we continue to look at individual and grade level scores, we will triangulate data from IOWA and DRA/BAS performance scores to better understand the impact of current programs.
At the end of the day, the CCRPI is an assessment of how we are doing in relation to the End of Grade tests. We are thankful to have a snapshot of our performance, but we recognize that these CCRPI scores are based on one-day tests, whereas the school year is 180 days. There are many wonderful things happening for our students that are not captured by a single measurement like the CCRPI.
As the principal of this wonderful school, who leads a supportive, caring staff, I am committed to the achievement and happiness of our kids. That’s what drives our work every day. We are committed to teaching ALL students in the best way possible and inspiring students to be lifelong learners. With your support, we will continue to move forward and grow stronger.
Please look for more information in January about a Parent Coffee discussion where we will dive deeper into the CCPRI scores as well as discuss the IOWA and Georgia Milestones End of Grade Test. As always, thank you for your support as we continue this journey.
I am proud to represent a school that continually strives to improve.
Sincerely,
Principal Gray
Thanksgiving Donations 2017
Summit Hill is well under way with our annual food drive to benefit North Fulton Community Charities. We will collect items through November 10th. Donations are collected by House color. The House that donates the most items will earn 50 extra house points! Please drop off donations outside of the cafeteria. Please limit your donations to specific items for a Thanksgiving meal.
For Thanksgiving donations, we need non-perishable food items for a Thanksgiving meal and grocery store gift cards in $25 increments. Last year we provided the makings for a Thanksgiving meal to nearly 600 families! Below is a grocery store list of suggested items. Consider getting an item in each category for a family of four or buying several items in one category:
Canned Vegetables (Corn, Beans, Sweet Potatoes, Pumpkin, Squash, Greens, etc.)
Boxed or Bagged Potatoes and Rice (Mashed or Scalloped; White, Brown or Yellow Rice)
Boxed Pasta Mixes (Mac-n-Cheese, Side pasta mixes)
