Course Selection for 2024-2025
This year, scheduling will be online for all students. Students will still have a paper Course Selection Sheet to be completed, signed by their parents, and submitted to their counselors by March 22, 2024. However, they will also be entering this information in Skyward to solidify their requests. Students will be asked to select eight (8) courses to fill their schedule for the 2024-2025 school year from required courses, as well as elective courses. In addition, students are asked to provide six (6) alternate requests. It is very important to provide alternate requests for counselors to use if and when their first choices for courses may not be available.
Online scheduling must be completed using the student access (desktop version) in Skyward. Directions for how to complete this process are available below in the form of a directions sheet and video. Students will receive instructions from their MMA teacher to help them, as well. It is important to note that online scheduling will be open for students starting on Friday, 3/1, for the current Juniors. Online scheduling will continue to open for students by grade level throughout the week based on the schedule below.
- Friday, 3/1 - Class of 2025
- Monday, 3/4 - Class of 2026
- Tuesday, 3/5 - Class of 2027
- Wednesday, 3/6 - Class of 2028
To help students pick courses that are appropriate and interesting for them, please use the following resources provided below:
- 2024-2025 Course of Studies
- 2024-205 Course Videos
Course selection will end on March 22, 2024 when all course selection sheets are due to counselors. This is when all selections should be designated in Skyward, too.
Student Leveling Assignments
ASVAB Testing
Scoring 31 or better on the ASVAB is a demonstration of student career readiness and will satisfy state requirements, according to Act 158, for students who have not met the Keystone testing requirements. Students who have not scored proficient or advanced on all 3 of the Keystone tests OR whose three combined scores (must also have at least one proficient or advanced score and no below basic scores) do not add up to 4452 should consider taking the ASVAB to meet the state's Act 158 requirements.
Please use this link to register to take the ASVAB: https://forms.gle/fLjDTYDPLtRc798BA
STUDENTS MUST REGISTER USING THEIR DOVER STUDENT EMAIL ACCOUNT. USING AN OUTSIDE EMAIL ACCOUNT WILL NOT ALLOW REGISTRATION.
REGISTRATION CLOSES AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL DAY ON MONDAY MARCH 5TH.
PSAT10 Testing
The PSAT 10 is part of the SAT Suite of Assessments and is taken in the spring by students in 10th grade. Questions on the PSAT 10 are structured similarly to those on the SAT, focusing on the reading, writing, and math skills. The PSAT 10 takes 2 hours and 14 minutes and consists of two sections: (1) the Reading and Writing section, and (2) the Math section. Most of the questions are multiple choice, though some math questions ask you to write in the answer rather than select it.
The PSAT 10 is more than good practice for the PSAT/NMSQT and SAT. The insights gained can help power your teen’s path to college and career. With your teen’s results, they can:
- See where they are and set a target: Your student will receive insights about their knowledge and skills while they still have plenty of time to improve. If they’ve taken other assessments in the SAT Suite, they can compare their progress and then set a target SAT score based on their goals.
- Find out about their likelihood to succeed in AP: Using their personalized score report, your teen will get recommendations about which AP courses might be a good fit for them.
- Gain career insights: Beginning in 2024, the personalized career information on the score report aims to spark interest in careers. Students can choose to log on to BigFuture for in-depth exploration.
