Tech Tips
Rediscover Discovery Education
I'm an Ambassador! (Well, almost!)
Jennifer Talty and I are having a great time learning about all of the useful and interesting features of Discovery Education (DE) during our Discovery Ambassador Class. When we complete our class, we will be crowned DE Stars and Ambassadors. By becoming Stars and Ambassadors, we are taking an active role in shaping the Discovery Education Network (DEN). The DEN is full of educators just like you who are excited about using digital media, collaborating, and sharing resources. There is so much to discover on DE and I thought it was just a bunch of videos! I hope that today's tech tips will help you to rediscover Discovery Education.
Math Tutorials
Do your students need extra support with a math concept? DE is loaded with math tutorials. Enter the math topic that you are looking for in the search box and then filter your search under media types for 'math explanations'. These tutorials can be used whole group or to support students individually. Think of the tutorials as an extra teacher in your classroom.
Virtual Field Trips
It's just not possible for students to get up-close and personal experiences with all of the concepts that we teach them. A virtual field trip is a great way to gain information on new concepts. DE has new virtual field trips all of the time. Follow the link below for more information on upcoming trips. (Kinders you may like the trip to the farm!)
Searchable Transcripts
Many full videos on DE have a transcript. Did you know that the transcript is searchable? When watching a video about communities, the searchable transcript allows you to type in the word rural and the video will key in to all of the sections of the video that talk about the rural community. This feature will help you and your students develop content and fact find.
