Weekly Wrap Up!
Week 2 2021
Dear OLV Preschool Family,
This week I especially want to show off the wishing wands our enrichment program made. Each child got to make a "wish" for the new year. Each child wished for coronavirus to be over. I think we can all relate. Please enjoy the pictures of the beautiful wands and some of our other afternoon work below. To that end, thank you again for all you do as a preschool family to help keep our preschool safe and healthy. We continue to take precautions outlined in our Health and Safety Plan found here on our preschool website.
As you can imagine, however, information changes on a daily basis as our school continues to receive updates from the Diocese of Altoona Johnson, the Department of Health, and the Department of Human Services. This is why specific information about isolation, quarantines, and exposure must be discussed with the Education Director at the diocese so that I can always communicate with you the most up-to-date, and correct information. If you have specific questions about exposure, testing, or quarantine please reach out to me directly at lorenzd@olvcs.org so that I can get make sure are receiving the correct information.
I understand this is a challenging time for many families and appreciate your patience and flexibility as we navigate ever-changing policies outside of our school. Staying open while maintaining the health and safety of our children and staff are my priority, and your diligence helps make this possible.
Blessings,
Dr. Lorenz

Parking Lot Safety
1. If you need to talk to your child's teacher, please schedule a time to chat outside of pick up.
2. Please keep all other children in the vehicle and buckled. The parking lot is not a safe place for children to run around and play in during pick up.
3. All persons who exit the car should keep their mask on and remain with their vehicle.
4. The first person in line needs to wait until they receive a "thumbs up" for the all clear to pull forward. We do this to allow all children to be safely secured before traffic starts to move.
5. Drive slowly, and be alert in our parking lot at both drop off and pick up. Remember, children are crossing the parking lot and we want everyone to stay safe. Also, it is winter, so ice on the roadway is possible.
Thank you for helping us all to stay safe!
Catholic Schools Week Service Project
Our theme this year is "Experience the warmth and love of Jesus Christ in Catholic Schools of Centre County." We'd like to spread warmth to celebrate! From now through the end of Catholic Schools Week we will be reading The Mitten Tree by Candace Christianson and collecting new mittens (all sizes welcome) to donate to Centre Safe and to Saint Vincent DePaul. Mittens can be sent in with your child to their classroom for them to create their classroom mitten tree.
Project Runway: Preschool Edition
1. Pants and underwear they can easily pull up and down on their own for independent bathroom use.
2. Clothes that you don't mind getting dirty or even stained. We paint and play a lot at preschool!
3. All hats, gloves, coats, etc should be labeled with your kiddos name.
4. An extra set of clothes that is both size and season appropriate. (now is a good time to double check!)
5. Season appropriate clothing and outerwear. We go outside as long as the real feel is 25 or above, weather permitting.
