The Class of 2024
Clubs and Classrooms
- Science Olympiad: On Saturday, February 10th, a dedicated group of Rye Neck students competed at the Regional Science Olympiad. Events included building airplanes and programming robots--among others. Rye Neck's team placed 14th among 44 competitors--and placed first in the Air Trajectory category: kudos to Alex Harris and Shuya Watanabe! Congrats to Ella Grann, Rachel Park and Sophia Buettner on placing second in Ecology and Forestry events. Many thanks to Captain Theodore Kusbiantoro for leading the team to victory. See pics here!
- The Junior Class held a successful Valentine's Fundraiser and raised over $350. With the help of the freshman, sophomore, and senior class officers, the junior class officers delivered over 215 valentines to the middle and high school. Thank you for your support. See pic here!
- Anti-Vaping Conference: On Thursday, February 15th, the SADD officers attended a leadership conference at C. V. Rich Mansion in White Plains. The focus of the conference was how to use your voice to stop vaping, while teaching the potential harms that can come of it. See pic here!
- Awareness Activities: On Friday, 2/16, SADD sponsored Fentanyl Awareness Day. The day started with a scavenger hunt to find puzzle pieces that spelled out "Fentanyl Kills". There was a wordsearch during homeroom that underscored the dangers of fentanyl. And throughout the day, "mystery airheads" were handed out underscoring the "mystery" as to whether fentanyl is in illegal drugs. Thank you to everyone for participating and helping raise awareness of this growing problem!
- Yoga for a Good Cause: As part of her ILP program, Lara Auffarth is raising money for victims of January's earthquakes in Turkey. Come on down to Kaia Yoga, 112 W Boston Post Road on Sunday, February 25th from 2-3 p.m., and raise your mindfulness in a robust yoga class--and help raise funds for people in Turkey who need our help! Sign up here.
