SHARK SHOUTOUTS
- I happen to be in Ms. Dietz's classroom E block one day this week, and I couldn't help but notice each and every student was thoroughly engaged, focused, friendly, working, patient and helpful to the sub and me while we were troubleshooting a tech conundrum. I was so proud of the students and so impressed. The first time sub will surely be back having had such a pleasant experience at MRHS! Thank you, students! You know who you are! -Mrs. Ferro
Our New, Online Semester-Long Course: Distance Learning Seminar
There’s a new course at MRHS! Distance Learning Seminar, is an online, multi-disciplinary one-semester course that will help students gain a deeper understanding of current events related to the theme of the individual and society. Themes will include:
- Community & Identity
- Cultural Diversity, Values, and Beliefs
- Race and Society
- Freedom and Responsibility
As part of Monomoy’s Strategic Plan and in keeping with our vision statement, Distance Learning Seminar is being offered this year to nearly every student, either the first or second semester. Unlike other courses at MRHS, Distance Learning Seminar is asynchronous: Students work at different times and in different places. The students don’t necessarily meet as a class online or in person. Assignments include relevant articles and other media, research, journaling, and projects. Students have flexibility and choice regarding individualized topics and products and will work on 21st-century skills of critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity.

Message from Athletic Director, Karen Guillemette
Welcome back Sharks!! Today marks the official start of Fall 1 sports! We are so excited to kick off our practices today for boys and girls soccer, field hockey, boys golf and cross country. Coaches should have sent out practice schedules to all the players who have signed up. If questions arise, feel free to contact myself or the coach directly. Cape and Islands Athletic Directors have been working hard putting together manageable competitive game schedules. We hope to finalize them by the end of the week. They will be posted on the MRHS website once completed. Thank you for your patience. It will be nice to see our fields full of hard-working student-athletes and coaches. We are ready!
Go Sharks!!
