RAISING MIDDLE-SCHOOLERS
By: Angie Krueger, School Social Worker
Most of us recall or wish NOT to recall our middle school years. For most of us, they were met with many challenges. I, for one, can appreciate any information that can offer support and guidance in caring for children. Over the course of this school year, I will be offering tips/reminders on various areas of your child's life. The material will be from a variety of resources. 1) Become a student of your child. Because early adolescence brings so many maturational changes, learn all you can about your child from his teachers, pediatrician, youth director, coaches, other parents, etc.
2) Insist on respect and showing respect. Remember that love and respect fit together like hand and glove. Give it and insist that your kids speak to others politely as well. It may be tough going, as this age can be mouthy and rude, but insist on it anyway. (30 Tips for Raising Middle Schoolers by: Brenda Hunter and Kristen Blair)

Reminder: New Password Format for Students
As you know the entire world has been dealing with an increased number of malware attacks and password hacking going on. To help protect our students' accounts, we will be going to a new password format to help student passwords be more secure, yet still easy to remember for students.
The new password format will be this
[Student ID]+[Safe word] The student will have the option of setting their own safe word but will be assigned a random word to start with.
Examples:
StudentID = 127896
Safe Word = Cat
Password =127896Cat
StudentID = 157696
Safe Word = candy
Password =157696candy
