Thank You For Your Support of Our Staff
At the elementary level, a variety of meals, gift cards, and sweet treats were offered for our staff in early May. Meals were also provided during teacher conference nights throughout the year. One of our buildings even had a food truck available this year for breakfast during teacher appreciation week!
At our middle school, parents provided dinners during our teacher conference times. Breakfasts and gift cards were offered in early May to show appreciation to our staff. We also have parents currently helping with 8th-grade promotion signs to help celebrate our students moving on to high school.
At the high school level, our Dance Team booster club and Gridiron Club were instrumental in helping the seasons to move forward this year and were very supportive with fundraising efforts, team outings, community service work, and building deep parent relationships and involvement. The staff also received some very generous donations during Teacher Appreciation Week.
I am sure I am missing many examples of how our parents and parent organizations have helped support us, especially through this difficult year. One of the foundations for the work that we do as a district challenges us to be part of a better community. Together we can best serve the students of Franklin Public Schools. On behalf of all the staff in Franklin Public Schools, thank you for all that you do to support our schools and our staff.
Have a great weekend,
Dr. Judy Mueller
District Administrator

COVID-19 UPDATES & MASKING OUTDOORS CHANGE
As a school district, we are pleased that positive cases of COVID-19 have declined and there are changes in COVID-19 mitigation protocols that can now occur. As a result, the Medical Advisory Team has reviewed data regarding the transmission of COVID-19 in outdoor spaces and has identified outdoor areas as less of a concern with regard to the spread. Therefore, effective Monday, May 24th and through the remainder of the school year, students will be allowed to lower or remove their masks outdoors. With regard to outdoor athletics, we will continue to follow the WIAA guidelines for athletes, and our spectators will no longer be asked to wear a mask outdoors. In addition, as a District, we are working with families to incorporate options to shorten the duration of quarantine. Given the progress made with COVID-19, we are also anticipating that masks will be identified as optional in schools next fall.
As we approach the last couple of weeks of school, the District continues to work closely with the Franklin Health Department and our Medical Advisory Team to advise us regarding COVID-19. The advice they provide is based on research and data from the professional medical community, which also includes the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and the CDC. We know that COVID-19 continues to impact children. This week, there were three student cases of COVID-19 in the District. Additional data regarding the impact of COVID-19 on children can be found in this report from the American Academy of Pediatrics and Children’s Hospital Association.
