Roots and Resiliency:
A Workshop for the Native American Community
Join us Saturday, October 10th, for Roots and Resiliency: A Workshop for the Native American Community, presented by Nazareth College art therapy graduate student Lauren Jimerson (Seneca), and Dr. Marie Watkins, director of the Community Youth Development program at Nazareth College.
During this interactive workshop, attendees will gain insight into acknowledging the strength of Ongwe öwehka – the Way of the Original People. The workshop will provide attendees a chance to explore the presence of the roots of Native American culture and how it contributes to resilience. Using her on-going training as an art therapist, Jimerson will present how art can be used as a non-confrontational means to process information.
Roots and Resiliency workshop is a result of the work that Dr. Watkins and Jimerson have done together during Jimerson’s graduate assistantship with the Community Youth Development while attending Nazareth College.
Stay for the Corn Soup Cook-Off, Potluck, and Social following the workshop at 5pm!
