Student Spotlight: Ms. Duffy, 3rd grade
Desmond had HUGE MAP gains this winter! When compared to his score from January 2020 to January 2021, in reading his score jumped 48 points and he went from the 29th percentile amongst 3rd graders nationwide to the 95th percentile!! In math he gained 26 points going from the 35th percentile in January 2020 to the 74th percentile in January 2021.
Desmond is always present in our class Zoom meetings and participates in reading groups. He keeps on-track with his classwork and stays on or ahead of pace. Even more impressive is how hard Desmond works on his classwork each day. He received all A’s on his 1st semester progress report, showing a high level of proficiency in all subject areas.
I am so proud of Desmond’s hard work and the progress he has made! It is an honor to be his teacher and have him in my 3rd grade class at The Virtual Learning Academy.
Teacher Spotlight (Ms. Brooks, Science)
There is no better compliment than one from a student! Thank you Ms. Brooks for going above and beyond!
I want to thank you so much! Sometimes I felt like giving up, but your optimism and kindness helped me through it. The real person you should be proud of is yourself for being such a kind and helpful person. I would not have gotten through it without your help, so once again thank you.
