The Public Face of Hong Kong Protests
"Everyone knows that under the Chinese Communist party, there is a lack of possibility to fight [for] true universal suffrage in the end... but students should stand on the front line in every century."
Early Life
Joshua Wong was born October 13, 1996 in Hong Kong. The son to Grace and Roger Wong, was raised as a Protestant Christian. At a young age, Joshua was exposed to social concern when his father would go take him to visit the lower classes, telling him he should care about them.

His Passion: Scholarism/ Democracy
Joshua Wong studied at the United Christian College where he started taking a active role in society at Hong Kong. On September 27, 2014, Joshua was one of 78 people arrested at a massive pro-democracy protest. Unlike most of the people who were freed afterwards, he was in custody for 2 days. Even though he risks getting arrested every time he protests, he still holds many of them and has many interviews and meetings. He has been honored being of the covers of many magazines including Time Magazine, AFP, and Foreign Policy.
Hero?
Definition of Hero: A hero or heroine is a person who, in the face of danger and adversity or from a position of weakness, displays courage or self-sacrifice.
I definitely think that Joshua deserves to be called a hero because he resembles all of the traits of one such as courage, determination, and strength. His constant struggle of having to deal with the Hong Kong Police and communist government makes him more than eligible to be called a hero.
