County Central Hawk Talk
'Home of the Hawks'
Principal's Point
Dear Parents,
Thank goodness it finally warmed up! We are heading into the second half of our academic year. Our high school students have completed their first round of final exams, and all students will be receiving a report card on February 7th. New schedules have been made available to students, and any students in Grade 10-12 who would like to make a change to their schedules may do so by completing a Course Change Request Form available at the Main Office. Once a form has been completed and signed, it should be handed in to the Main Office. An administrator will call the student down to complete the process, but students must attend their current classes until a change has been made and a new timetable has been printed.
Please note that Palliser has recently changed their policy relating to guest access to our wireless network. Going forward, each staff member and each student will have the ability to connect one (1) personal device on the network at a time. The network will only be accessible to Palliser staff and students. Students wishing to connect to the guest network can follow the instructions provided using the attached link: Palliser Guest Network - User Experience
Our office staff have recently developed a set of procedures for student withdrawals. Should a family need to withdraw their child from our school (due to a move or transfer), the parent should come to the Main Office to complete a School Withdrawal Form. Once submitted, this form allows us to contact teachers, finalize grades, ensure that the student’s locker is cleared out, textbooks have been returned, uniforms collected, and any outstanding fees have been paid. We can then begin the process of transferring the student’s file to his or her new school. We greatly appreciate your assistance with this new process.
Students are invited to the Semester II Welcome Back Breakfast being put on by our amazing School Council on Monday, February 3rd at 8:30am. We are so appreciative of the support our School Council provides for our students, and we are very lucky to have a wonderfully involved group of parents. If you would like to join us for our next meeting, it takes place on Wednesday, February 12th at 5:30pm in Room 124.
There will be no classes from February 17th to the 21st. I hope you all have a safe and restful February Break.

Hawks Nest
Thanks to an initiative by Orlena Richmond, of Meals in Minutes VC, called “Kids in the Kitchen,” students in the Foods program and other interested schoolmates are helping plan, prepare and serve hot lunches to not only their peers on a weekly basis, but also school administrators from across Palliser Regional Schools for their monthly meeting in Vulcan.
Reminder that Hawks Nest serves hot lunch twice a week- generally on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The menu is posted on our website as well as Facebook.
