FROM THE HEADS DESK
Starting my slightly shorter Heads Words today with some lovely news. Mrs Susan Payne has been moved out of Intensive Care and into a lower dependency ward. She is talking freely and remains in extremely good spirits. Susan and her whole family have asked me to pass on their gratitude to the parent body for all of your lovely messages and kind words. I will continue to update you on her condition whenever possible.
Masses of pupil achievements this week, whether it be on the sports field at the wonderful football tournament last Friday when our two Under 10 teams did us proud, whether it be in the classroom where our mathematicians have been excelling on their Turbo Tables, whether it be with our Reception and Year 1 boys and their creative writing exploits, or even with the enthusiasm our pupils have shown towards the cake sales and raising money for others. It has been one of those weeks where you as parents can be so very proud of how your sons have worked and played in school.
The highlight of the week, possibly even the term, was the Year 5 and 6 (with a few very brave and talented Year 3 and 4 boys!) Celebrational Music Concert. Playing the music of Pixar, our joint venture with the girls school was a wonderful occasion where our musicians and choirs were able to showcase where the hours of practice and endeavour had been focused. In other words, they sang and they played their hearts out, and I was so impressed with the collaboration with the girls school on the final four numbers, and in the orchestra. A masterpiece. Many thank must go to Mr Rowan and Miss Goodsell for their inspiration and hard work in preparing the boys and girls.
Another busy set of activities in school today with Year 4 on their Football tour and Bushcraft expedition and Year 3 enjoying Electric Lego. I am pleased to report that I came third this week in the ‘Crossbar Challenge’ at the Year 3 cake sale…...at the moment Guy Saffman, Ben Babcock and Finn Keylock always seem to get ahead of me! I have told them not to transfer this skill onto the football field!! On the subject of our charities, we have enjoyed both the Link Foundation and Rosie’s Rainbow Fund joining us in assembly, and the boys were treated to a musical extravaganza on Thursday with Andy Stevens from Rosie’s Rainbow.
We have our whole school Fancy Dress Sponsored Walk on Monday. The boys have hopefully been asking you to sponsor them. They should arrive in school on Monday wearing their fancy dress costumes…..please ensure that they bring their wellington boots, and once they have completed the walk they can change into their own clothes or the CC sports kit. They do not need to bring in their school uniform. It promises to be a very colourful event! I should also remind parents of boys in Year 5 that we have the Lads and Dads Books and Bushcraft next Friday - you should have received in your son’s bag an invitation. Similarly, I hope that you will all be able to attend our Workshare on Thursday. Indeed, next week looks even busier than this week with the Easter Egg Hunt, a number of sports tournaments in both rugby and football taking place, as well as trips out for Year 2 to the National archives to name but a few things. It should be lots of fun!
Well, apart from the small matter of England beating Wales tomorrow in the rugby international, I hope you all enjoy a restful and peaceful weekend!

NEW WEBSITE
By now you have probably noticed the School has launched a new website. We hope you like the new look and have been able to find your way around. We are aware that there were a number of quick links parents used from the landing page of the old site, but with our aim to create a cleaner, more logical site for prospective and current users, some of these are now tucked behind the menu. Here's a short 'how-to-find' guide! The website is an evolving process, so look out for details of the calendar integration in our next mailing.

A reminder that as part of CCJB’s charity appeal the whole school is going to join in a fancy dress sponsored walk around the new field. This will take place on Monday 14 March. Each form will walk together, Reception and Year 1 will complete 1 lap, Year 2 can complete a maximum of 2 laps and the boys in Junior Prep may complete up to 4 laps.
