Spotlight on Preschool
The preschool has been fortunate to witness the hatching of 12 chicken eggs over the past few weeks. The children delighted in watching the chickens hatch and grow. The chickens quickly became cherished members of the preschool community. The process of hatching eggs provides endless learning experiences for our preschool children including life cycle understanding, practicing observation skills, patience and responsibility, science concepts, language development, and environmental awareness. We are so grateful to those that made this experience possible for our preschool students. While we are saddened to bid them farewell as they head to the farm to mature, we deeply appreciated the chickens and the educational opportunities they brought through this enriching hands-on learning experience.

Let the games begin! :)
Readathon Fundraiser Update!
Our students kept the volunteer team busy entering and organizing logged minutes, and we were absolutely blown away by the drive and determination of all participants. This year’s total minutes logged more than doubled compared to last year, coming to a total of 327,503 minutes! Our youngest readers at Davis logged a total of 99,128, and Lane had a total of 228,375 minutes for our reading period! This is such an incredible accomplishment and couldn’t be possible without the overwhelming support and encouragement from families and school staff.
Additionally, this event has raised over $10,000, but we are accepting donations through Wednesday, April 10th. We will update everyone with final numbers by the end of the week. Thank you all for your support!
Prizes will be distributed in teacher mailboxes by Thursday, April 11th.

News from Nurse Jen
This week the Massachusetts Department of Public Health has released updated guidelines for COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses to reflect the recently updated CDC guidance. Instead of guidance specific to testing positive for COVID-19, this updated information is for respiratory viruses like Influenza, RSV and COVID-19 as they share similar transmission methods, symptoms and prevention strategies.
Staying home to prevent the spread of respiratory viruses
There is no longer the requirement to stay home for 5 days if you test positive for COVID-19.
When you have ANY respiratory virus- stay home and away from others if you have respiratory virus symptoms. These symptoms can include fever, chills, fatigue, cough, runny nose and headache.
Return to normal activities when, for at least 24 hours, both are true:
𐄂 Your symptoms are improving and,
𐄂 At least 24 hours have passed with no fever and without the use of
fever-reducing medications such as Tylenol and Motrin
It is important to note that the guidance doesn't end with staying home and away from others when sick. The guidance recommends taking added precautions over the next 5 days. Some recommendations for schools are:
Wear a well-fitting mask except when actively eating, drinking or outside.
Keep distance from others, especially the elderly and those who are immunocompromised.
As always, practice good respiratory hygiene and wash hands or use sanitizer frequently.
