Welcome
We are so excited for all of our new friends that have joined us in 2nd grade! This year is going to be filled with lots of fun adventures and laughter. We invite you to join us on our adventure of positive energy! Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.

Info about Career Day- Students may dress up as what their dream job is when they grow up. Please read for details and let us know if you would like to join us and share about your job/ career :)
Reminders
May 10- All Library books are Due
May 21- Career day- Students can dress up as their dream/ future career. Parents are also invited to come and share about their career. A letter will be going home as it gets closer. If you plan on presenting, save the date on your calendar.
May 22- ROE Field Day
May 23- Awards Day
May 24-Hawk Assembly/End of the year party/ Last day of school/ Early Release
-Please make sure to read with your child to build up their fluency and comprehension skills.
-Transportation changes need to be called into the front office.
-Sign up for Remind to get important updates and reminders from your students teacher.
-If you have any questions or concerns, contact your student's teacher.
-We love celebrating student birthdays!! In 2nd grade we will celebrate at the end of the day starting at 2:30 (only store bought cupcakes or treats).
Family Focus
This year we are taking more of a family focused approach to homework. We believe that spending quality family time is vital in the success of your student. We will provide family friendly, engaging homework activities and assignments. We would love if you would send us pictures of these activities and share them with us.
This weeks Family focus: This week we are learning about poetry. Take sometime to explore various types of poems and even create some of your own. If you find your favorite poem or write one share it with your teacher.
Academics
Reading :We will be discussing poetry elements such as rhyming, rhythm and repetition.
ELA: Students will write responses to poetry and create poems of their own.
Math: Students will review 2 digit addition and subtraction.
Science: Students will investigate and record some of the unique stages that insects undergo during their life cycle
Social Studies: This week students will discuss Mexican culture.

At the top click on students
Then scroll down to where it says sign into class link (maroon Tab with white letters)
Students will only need to log into that, then they will automatically be logged into the resources without having to remember so many different passwords.
