Alief Libraries = Access
Students Meeting Authors
This semester students from schools all across Alief have enjoyed learning from and meeting authors including Alief's own Edwin Molina, author of Puerto Rico: Restoring Hope Through Poetry.
In February students from 12 Alief ISD elementary schools are looking forward to traveling to the BookWorm Festival in CyFair.

Creativity Expands Knowledge
Throughout Alief, libraries open before school, during lunch and after school for students to learn and expand their creativity in MakerSpaces. Activities in these areas include robotics, LEGOs, crafts, building, creating and so much more.
MakerSpaces provide access to resources for all students to engage in innovation and curriculum enriching activities.
Giving the Heart of the School a Face Lift
Just like with our houses, well loved spaces need to be refreshed. Over half of the libraries in Alief have had their furnishings updated over the past few years and by the end of the next school year all of the libraries will have at least a partial face lift.
Destiny Provides Access to Library Resources
Destiny, the new Alief library system, enabled students to checkout books earlier this school year than ever before. Students can now search for books and put books on hold from home. The resource also allows students to research the district databases without having to remember passwords. In Alief, our libraries are the heart of our schools.
Houston Public Library Learning Link is On The Way
Next spring, students will have a whole new level of #Access with the launch of the partnership between the Houston Public Library and Alief ISD. The HPL Learning Link Card will give students #access to check out print and electronic books from HPL as well as #access to many online resources. Look for more information soon!
