A Letter From Jordan Mills
Bridgeport is No Place for Hate: We are excited to begin this year’s No Place for Hate projects here at Bridgeport this month! No Place for Hate focuses on creating a safe, welcoming environment for all students. Since we have started No Place for Hate, we have seen fewer cases of bullying and students have developed a common language for talking about the impact our words have on each other.
Lockdown Drill
On Tuesday, October 5 our school will practice our lockdown procedures in the case of an emergency. Here is the slideshow of the talking points that teachers will use prior to the drill and the lesson plan that includes an opportunity to debrief with students afterward. We will emphasize that this is just practice and that practice helps us be prepared. Please help us reinforce this message at home and feel free to contact us with any questions.
COVID Screening Program
Our school will be participating in an optional COVID screening program through OHSU. Your student will only participate if you complete the consent and authorization forms.
Tests are sent home from school weekly and taken at home. They require a saliva sample.
Students will return tests to school the following day so they can be sent to the lab.
The OHSU lab will process the samples and email you results within 24 hours.
You can opt out anytime.
Additional details, including permission forms, were sent home in your student’s backpack. Please review them and return the forms no later than October 8 if you would like for your student to participate. Please contact our office at 503-431-4200 or bridgeportoffice@ttsd.k12.or.us if you have any questions. Thank you!
School Pictures
This is a reminder that school pictures will take place on Monday, October 11. Picture packets will be sent home in students’ backpacks no later than Monday. You may also purchase pictures online and avoid having to send the order with your child. We will do our best to keep students looking fresh prior to pictures, but unfortunately not all students can take pictures first thing in the morning. We will offer retakes later this year for those families that are interested.
Conferences
Teacher conferences will take place on Thursday, October 28 and Friday, October 29. Please see the separate communication (coming out on Wednesday, 10/6) regarding conferences to sign up using the Sign-Up Genius link, or contact our office at 503-431-4200 or bridgeportoffice@ttsd.k12.or.us if you need assistance signing up. Please plan for students at grades 2-5 to attend conferences with their families while students in kindergarten and first grade will not. Conferences will be virtual with some teachers offering an in person option.
You'll be late if it's after 8!
Once the 8AM bell rings, teachers are taking attendance and beginning their lessons for the day. Students arriving after the bell will be directed to the office to get their tardy slips before heading to class.
Students can begin arriving at 7:45 AM with breakfast being available as well.

Jackets, Jackets, Jackets
- We would like to encourage all of our students to remember to bring a warm jacket for our cloudy and sometimes rainy days. Also, packing an extra set of clothes in your students backpack may be a good idea as well.
- At the same time, we have ended up with a great many jackets that have lost their way back to their owners. If your student is missing a jacket, please have them look in the Lost and Found.
If your student is in need of a coat, please call our Family Partnership Advocate Vilma Madrigal at 503-431-4250.
