Lions Park Remote Learning Update
LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Lions Park Families,
We hope your children had a great first week back at school! Our staff are happy to have them back and even more excited to begin welcoming some students back to school in person on January 19th. Whether your child will be learning in person or remotely, we are looking forward to continued meaningful learning experiences with your children. Our parent and teacher conferences have continued during this week. We are so thankful to our parents for making time to attend these conferences and asking good questions. We also appreciate the preparation our teachers do for these evenings.
In preparation for the transition to hybrid, teachers will be holding Zoom meetings with their new classes the week of January 11th. Unless you requested a change of placement or receive individual communication, your child's teacher assignment is the same as the one that was emailed to you on October 25th. We will also be sending a reminder about teacher assignments on Wednesday. Each grade level will schedule a time that this will be done during the school day. This will give students an opportunity to meet their new teacher, if they are changing teachers, and also get to know a bit about the students who will be in their class during this next phase of the school year. Our nurse and social worker will be doing presentations in each homeroom to discuss the transition. While the information about mask wearing and social distancing will be mostly relevant to students who are coming in person, safety reminders will be helpful to all students.
If your child is coming to school for in person learning, please watch this video with them so that you all have a better idea of what to expect. As you may remember school hours will be changing for all students starting on January 19th. We created this document as a reminder of the schedule for each model. Teacher will share more specific class schedules with you prior to January 19th.
You may have seen our call for volunteers in our November and December newsletters, but I want to highlight the request now that we have a firm arrival date. Our new procedures require even more adults because of students going straight to the classrooms, increased entrances and temperature checks at each door. We would love to have some parent volunteers for arrival and dismissal, both in the morning and in the afternoon. If you are interested in assisting outdoors with a safe arrival and dismissal by helping students cross the street and/or helping maintain social distance, please fill out this form.
As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Warmly,
Katie Kelly
Letter from the PTO Presidents
Dear Lions Park Families,
We hope everyone had a relaxing and safe Winter Break! The PTO sponsored the Cris Johnson’s Superhero Science Virtual Assembly in December. It looked like the students had a lot of fun learning about and trying some new science experiments!
Thank you to everyone who donated to help provide Yummy Goody Bags to Asbury Court! Cake pops and cupcakes were handed out to all of their residents and certainly helped bring some holiday cheer!
Please be on the look out for more fun opportunities from our Social Connection Committee this winter! Also keep an eye out for information about this year’s Roar N Run Read fundraiser beginning in February!
Remember that if you would like to have access to our online directory app, purchase your membership at this link: https://lionsparkpto.com/product/pto-family-membership/.
At this time, PTO meetings will be held via zoom. The next PTO meeting will be February 1st at 8pm. The zoom link and agenda will be included the in newsletter on January 29.
If you have any questions, please e-mail us at lionsparkpto@gmail.com.
Sincerely,
Molly Wintermute and Monica Janiczek

Technology Issues
Although technology can work well, there are times when it just does not work correctly. Teachers will not be available to respond to emails during instructional times. Instead, please submit a Remote Learning Technology Support form by clicking here. Once submitted, someone from our District Technology Team will contact you to provide assistance.
If you experience a technical issue, please follow these steps to troubleshoot the problem:
Restart the Chromebook (make sure it turns all the way off before turning back on).
Quit any unused applications.
Sign out of an application if it's not working, and sign back in.
Move closer to your internet router if you are experiencing connectivity issues.
Turn off any accessibility features i.e., contrast mode, special cursor that may be set on the Chromebook. These can cause applications to run slow.
