We ask that parents please avoid scheduling appointments for their children during school hours on these dates. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s building principal or the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, Dr. Melissa E. Hirsch.
Watch our parent seminar!
This past Wednesday, all District 30 parents were invited to attend "Ensuring School is a Safe Space for All: Recognizing and Responding to Bias & Discrimination in District 30" at Maple School. Click below to watch the program, presented by Maggie Schwalbach, an ADHD-certified practitioner, executive functioning coach, and World of Difference facilitator.
This seminar was part of a larger, ongoing effort by District 30 to work toward making our schools more inclusive, which this week included a professional development day for all staff and a new day of learning and self-reflection called "Illuminate" at Maple.
Solar eclipse viewing, activities on April 8
Dear Parents and Guardians,
On April 8, District 30 students will participate in various educational activities related to the solar eclipse. These activities enhance our students' understanding of this rare astronomical event through observation and learning exercises. All participants will receive special-purpose solar filter glasses to view the eclipse.
We understand that some parents or guardians may prefer that their child not participate in viewing the solar eclipse for personal, health, or other reasons. If you do not wish for your child to take part in viewing the solar eclipse, please complete the form below and return it to your school office team by April 4.
Lighted Schoolhouse is April 10
SAVE THE DATE
SAVE THE DATE for our upcoming Lighted Schoolhouse evening on Wednesday, April 10 from 6:00-7:00 p.m.! This year, Lighted Schoolhouse will incorporate our school theme of "Be A Hero: Help Everyone Respect Others." We are excited about the opportunity for our Wescott community to come together to promote kindness.
Join us for an evening of fun, community and giving back. We will be making cards and packing snack and toiletry bags for donation to the West Deerfield Food Pantry. In addition to our activities, you will be able to visit your child’s classroom.
We are asking Wescott families to donate items to help make this night a success. We are looking for the following items: toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, deodorant, and soap.
Boxes will be available from Monday, April 1 through Wednesday April 10 to drop items. Thank you!

Save the Date for the 3rd-Grade Parent Showcase!

Kindness Crew Club spots still open
Calling 4th & 5th-grade students! Join the Wescott Kindness Krew! In this after-school club, students will spread kindness around the school by helping teachers with various classroom projects and assisting the Helping Hands committee when needed. Krew members will also come up with their own ideas for spreading kindness!
The club will meet on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3:20 to 4:20 pm beginning April 16th running four weeks through May 7th.
Parents will be required to arrange transportation of their children from school grounds. Since crossing guards are not on duty, any student who walks home needs parental permission.
Click here to register. Please note, completing the form does not guarantee admission. Mrs. J will contact you if your student is in the club. Contact Mrs. Janavicius with questions: mjanavicius@district30.org
