Milan American Legion Supported Student of the Month Program Continues at MES
Since 1996, MES has been privileged to have the loyal support of the Milan American Legion in our character-building Student of the Month Program. This program gives recognition to students who put forth outstanding effort in targeted areas and encourages others to follow their good example. Students receive a certificate prepared for them by Legion Auxiliary Member Thelma Reese and presented to them by Milan Legion Representative Ron Mills. Each month features a different theme.
September’s theme was “Good Listener” and the following students were chosen as those who always listened attentively and politely and as a result were able to follow directions as given: Kindergarten: Allison Stamper, Kadence MacVey, Mya Sargent, Colby Bushhorn. First Grade: Ryleigh Goodlett, Chloe Andrew, Alexis Marshall. Second Grade: Tryniti Reed, Grace Deffinger, Makiha Miller, Tristen Whitaker, Marissa Farrell. Third Grade: Zoey Meyer, Kilee Walker, Grace King, Gracee Stapleton. Fourth Grade: Nico King, Ellana Jutzi, Hunter Scudder, Rylee Pires. Fifth Grade: Autumn Eckstein, Eleanor Honnert, Madison Cavins.
The theme during October was "Trustworthy" and focused on students who could be counted on to make good choices and do the right thing. Chosen as outstanding examples of this very desirable character trait were: Kindergarten: Lainey Stock, Dakoda Mockbee, Kayden Bushhorn, Landon Smith. Grade 1: Kyla Curry, Payton Collins, Logan Bruns. Grade 2: Nevaeh Carpenter, Ryan Betz, Sophia Lewis, Clayton Hunter. Grade 3: Dylan Pindell, Taytum Barker, Lucas Drew, Jeremy Jackson. Grade 4: Allison Doyle, Mason Johnson, Jade Smith, Stephanie Hartman. Grade 5: Brady Werner, Jocelyn Allen, Zach Derico, Grant Sheckler.

MES Annual Drive to Benefit Milan Food Pantry, November 9 - 13
Our 5th Grade Chieftains group is spearheading our annual drive to help the Milan Food Pantry prepare for the extra demand that will be made on their resources by the cold weather and the upcoming holidays. Every month many local families, including lots of children, are helped by the food pantry as they distribute these donations. Needed items include canned and boxed foods, paper products, and cleaning supplies.
Also this year they are asking for monetary donations to their building project for a new facility that will allow them to help even more families in need.
If you can help, please send your donations to school with your child during the week of November 9-13. Thank you for helping us make a difference in our community!
