Uncover Your Data’s Story
Foundations of Program Evaluation
Uncover Your Data's Story: Foundations of Program Evaluation: Our districts and teacher centers invest a great deal in professional learning programs. Do you know if your programs are working? Are they worth the investment of time and other resources? Are they making a difference?
Program evaluation is about applying systematic methods to collect, analyze, interpret, and communicate data about a program to understand its design, implementation, outcomes, or impacts. Simply put, it’s about asking good questions, gathering the right data, and using what we learn to make good decisions.
In this workshop, Sheila will introduce five phases of program evaluation – 1. engagement and understanding, 2. evaluation questions, 3. data collection, 4. data analysis and interpretation, and 5. reporting and use. She will share key questions you need to ask and answer during each phase, along with the types of tools you can use to conduct a program evaluation. Each participant will receive a digital workbook. Bring a laptop and start to build an actual evaluation plan for one of your programs.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to:
Identify and describe five key phases of program evaluation
Differentiate among program evaluation, employee evaluation, and research methodologies, recognizing their distinct roles
Develop a basic evaluation plan for a professional development program
Implement a program evaluation that informs program decisions
