Principals Message
Dear Burbank families,
We made it to spring break! The weather is getting better, and the children are enjoying the sunshine. We will reiterate appropriate behavior in the classroom and on the playground. Please talk to your student about using kind words and keeping their hands to themselves.
We had a nice turnout for our after-school math and English workshops. Parents who attended left with books, in English and Spanish, with comprehension questions. They also left with materials for math games. With our state testing coming up in April, we want the students reading and practicing math facts every day. The testing begins on 4/8 and ends on 4/25. We ask that students work on getting a good night's sleep and eat a healthy breakfast. You can complete practice questions with your child by going to this link. CAASPP practice
Today was our first day of "Donuts with Dinesh" for perfect attendance. Congratulations to Mr. Carrillo's class for being the only class with perfect attendance today. We would like to thank our community partners "Donut Basket" for the delicious donuts.
Please read with your child every day. It is sometimes difficult to carve out that time to read, but I suggest starting for a short time and increase it slowly. Please also practice math facts with your children. This includes addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
For drop off and pick up, if you are using the drive through lanes, please remain in your car and a yard duty will assist your child. You are welcome to park in a designated parking spot and walk your child to and from the gate.
Great things are happening at Burbank all the time and we are excited to share them with you.
Thank you,
Radhika Dinesh

How Can You Take Part?
In ELAC we take the input from the parents of our English Learners and find ways to provide better support for the students in the classroom. We show you tools that you can use to help your students English proficiency. At School Site Council you become part of the change and can help make the big decisions on the direction the school needs to take. At Parent Cafe you learn about your students emotional development and ways you can help support it at each step of the process. Then we have Parent Building Blocks where we teach you the curriculum being taught in the class and than provide you with materials, so you can practice with your student at home and understand exactly what they are learning.

PBIS & Attendance
Attendance - VP Mellor
As we continue through our last trimester of the year, we are still pushing for good attendance. Attending school is important for students to build a foundation of organization and responsibility that will help them for a very long time in their lives. Consistent attendance at school is important for students not only academically, but socially and emotionally. When students have consistency and routine, it helps them gain the academic skills that we work to build upon each year. We try to build a structured environment to give them all of the tools they need to be successful. It is important for them to be present every day in order to access these supports. We look forward to seeing each and every one of our students walk through the gates every day! If your child is having difficulty coming to school and additional support is needed, please contact us so that we can provide the resources needed.
Family - PBIS
This month, our focus is ORGANIZATION. We have discussed with students the importance of being organized at school. Work as a family to pick one area of the house where everyone can work together to stay organized. Make it a goal everyday to do a "Ten Minute Tidy," and organize the space as a family! You can do it!
