Read-A-Thon
Get in the Game….READ
We are excited to announce that North will be having its 5th annual Read-a-Thon! The Read-a-Thon will begin on Monday, February 28th and will end on Friday, March 11th. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to encourage our students to read more as well as earn some money for our school and fun prizes for your child. The best part about it is, it’s easy.
Information will be sent home prior to the start of the Read-a-Thon. You will then set up your child’s account by going to www.read-a-thon.com/readers/ or by scanning the QR code. Enter the code from the reader’s sheet. Your child will get a prize just for setting up the account. Then friends and family from all over can make donations to your child online. You can share this information on social media to encourage participation at home! Your child earns prizes for donations that are made. The top winning classes will earn a special reward. There will be drawings for completing activities as well! We will have reading sessions here at school, but you can encourage your child to read more at home during this time. Be on the lookout for special dress up days!
Last year, our school raised over $5,200! That money helped with supporting our readers by providing more books and literacy supplies in their hands in and outside of school. The money earned from the Read-A-Thon will continue to provide books for our students for the summer reading program and reading supplies to help support our students in reading.
If you have any questions please let us know. Thank you for supporting our school and readers!

KINDERGARTEN ENROLLMENT HAS BEEN SET FOR THE 2022-2023 YEAR
NORTH ELEMENTARY PTO
Please attend the upcoming 3rd quarter PTO meeting on February 8th. They will be discussing the upcoming Family FUNdraiser-Bingo Night. One of the key components to the FUNdraiser success is the silent and live auction…and the PTO needs donated items. Do you own or work for a business that might be willing to donate? Do you frequent a business you think might donate? If so, PTO would love you to ask them for a donation. The PTO also needs volunteers for this fun family event. It takes both donated items and volunteers to make this event successful. If you have a donation and/or can volunteer, please contact our President of PTO, Jessica Keen via email at jacksonnorthpto@gmail.com.
We appreciate all your help!
Spotlight On Fourth Grade
Great things are happening this year in fourth grade! Last quarter students got an in depth look at animal adaptations. Students were able to read and research about an animal of their choice. Then students used that knowledge to create a choose their own adventure story starring that animal. By thinking critically about what their animal would do to defend themselves, students were able to develop a creative adventure story.
This quarter we are taking a closer look at the American Revolution. Students are reading about different fictional colonists. They are learning about the different perspectives and feelings the colonists had during the events of the war. Students are able to use this knowledge to decide what they would have done if they were in the war. We are excited to see what the rest of the year brings!
4th Grad transition night is scheduled for Wednesday, March 23 at 6pm at Jackson Middle School. This is not a mandatory event but allows children to visit their new school with their parents. For more information please click on this link:

Art Remarks
Hello North Families! In the art classroom, we have been hard at work practicing drawing techniques and painting tutorials. Through most of February, we will be using the drawing techniques in preparation for clay and printmaking! The school year is already flying by! Look for yearbook reminders, so that you may order online; online-ordering is the only option this year. If you have any questions, please just let me know. Thanks, wonderful families!
Artfully yours,
Miss Hopson

Stay "On Track" with Physical Education
Hello North Family:
We are having a great start to the new year in PE at North. The students are really coming around and becoming great classmates in PE. I always like to promote fair play and support for one another and I have been seeing great things in this area. The students are encouraging one another and developing good team building skills to not only help them out in sports later on, but in life as well. Right now we are doing some fun dodgeball activities and next we will be getting into basketball skills as March Madness approaches. I am excited to finish out the year with these youngsters and see how much more they can grow.
Thank you,
Coach Bard
