Emerald Group Publishing Award Certificate
Megan has had her paper (“Solo and Distributed Leadership: Definitions and Dilemmas”, Educational Management Administration and Leadership, 2012) selected as a winning paper in the prestigious Emerald Citations of Excellence for 2015.
Each year Emerald Group Publishing awards certificates to highly cited papers relating to the areas of Business Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics and Marketing – subjects in which Emerald itself has proudly published journals for nearly 50 years. The selection process made by our own editorial experts is based initially on the citations being given to papers published in a previous year (in this case 2012), but our judging panel also take into account the content of the papers themselves in terms of novelty, inter-disciplinary interest and relevancy in today’s world. While high academic and research standards are a pre-requisite, these selections are of course ultimately subjective, but they are also a reflection of the high quality of work published in 2012.
Visit to university by students and teachers from ACE (Alternative Complementary Education)
On Tuesday 16th June, 4 students and 2 members of staff from ACE, Plymouth came to the university for a visit. This was the first group of students to visit the university under a scheme set up by Cath Gristy and Nadine Johns called ‘Student Shadowing Plus (SSP)’. SSP is a development of the standard ‘Student Shadowing (SS)’ scheme which is run as part of the university student recruitment activities. The SS scheme allows school students to have an extended visit to the university. SSP is facilitated by Cath, Nadine and the Care Leaver Service (CLS) and is designed to provide an opportunity for young people who need additional support to visit the university. The feedback from the ACE students and staff was very positive and other ACE student visits are already planned. A reciprocal visit to ACE from University students will happen on July 14th. We hope this mutually beneficial scheme will expand to include other local education providers and Pupil Referral Units like ACE.
