Sunflower Students Receive Chromebooks
In support of the mission statement for Paola USD 368 that states modern technology is essential to learning students at Sunflower received Chromebooks as part of a 1 to 1 technology initiative for students in grades 3-12.
Fun Facts about USD 368 Chromebooks
Chromebooks typically have a lifespan of 5 years. Therefore...
- Paola students will receive a new Chromebook in 5th grade that will be assigned to them through 8th grade. They then receive a new Chromebook in 9th grade that will be assigned to them through 12th grade.
- 3rd & 4th grade students receive cleaned and cleared Chromebooks that have been turned in from 8th and 12th grade.
- Student Chromebooks at Sunflower are kept in charging carts in the classroom and do not go home with students.
- Sunflower students received contracts with their Chromebook about usage and care for them. Improper usage results in loss of privileges.
- Chromebooks are used as tools for learning at Sunflower. Students are not allowed to just "play" on them. There must be an educational purpose for their use.
Online Safety by Lisa Wilson
Raising kids in the ever evolving cyber era can be fun, exciting as well as scary and overwhelming. There seems to be an endless stream of new apps and social media platforms. It can be overwhelming to stay on top of what they are. A parent sent this article, and we thought it was a succinct article regarding 15 apps police in Florida have identified as one’s parents should look out for on their kids’ phones/devices. https://www.wtsp.com/article/news/crime/25-arrests-made-during-online-predator-human-trafficking-sting-in-sarasota/67-d11457be-49a8-4e68-a9d2-a31771670637
There are a number of monitoring apps, such as Bark, parents can install on their phones to help them keep track of their child’s online safety.
