A Note From The Principal
Greetings Parents & Scholars,
We had a great week of celebrations! This week we celebrated our "Falcon of the Month". These outstanding scholars exemplify our core values at Phalen Leadership Academies. They were elected by their teachers and have represented their fellow scholars well. We also celebrated our scholars that had the most Kickboard dollars for the first quarter. Our Kickboard system is part of our Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS). Our teachers do a wonderful job awarding students for positive behavior in their classroom. Students that make good choices and exhibit positive behavior are rewarded regularly.
We also spent time this week going over the data from our NWEA testing and discussing strategies for moving forward. We discussed the dissemination of these items in our newsletter last week. Please look for the following documents in your scholar's folder: NWEA scores, progress report, behavior report and information about our first parent teacher conference. We look forward to sharing what we know so together we can move forward.
Last, many thanks to those parents, teachers and aides that volunteered to serve on our school improvement team. I appreciate your wiliness to serve. Your insight and involvement are invaluable to the overall success of our school. A big KUDOS to our leadership team your service does not go unnoticed. You are the Best!
Together We Win,
Dr. Sue Starr

Second Quarter Requests
The window to apply for a change in your scholar's second quarter placement is now closed. We will notify families if their request has been approved next week via the phone number you provided. Scholars approved to return in person will be allowed to do so on Monday, October 12, 2020.
Falcon of the Month
This month's focus is FEARLESS (the F in Falcon). FEARLESS scholars are those who are not afraid to take chances and welcome challenges in the classroom. They are willing to try new approaches to problems and don't give up. These scholars don't allow the possibility of failure to stand in their way of giving outstanding effort in overcoming difficult challenges.
Congratulations to the following scholars:
Maya Donigan, Princeton Randle, Izon Fletcher, Christian Seals, Tyree Brodley, Katlynn Patton, Ka'Miyah Hammond, Bre'Asia Johnson, Ja'Kayah Hughes, Braven Wissler, Dalon Johnson, Antonio O'Neil, A'Miya Talley, Laniya Johnson, Jerrion Rose, and Ashly Dominguez
