The Richardson Review
April 2021
Dear Parents and Guardians,
April is a month we see so many changes here in Minnesota. From the return of the different types of birds, to trees budding, grass turning green, and temperatures that are all over the place. This is a good time to remember to label your child's coat, jacket, or sweater. With the mornings starting out on the cool side and quickly warming up during the day, many students forget they had one. Labeling your child's things will help staff get them back to their owner.
MCA Testing for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade learners will begin this month. Please check out the testing schedule and keep your child's test dates in mind when planning time out of school for appointments, etc. On test days bring your fully charged device. Students also test better when they are well rested and have eaten. If you have any questions or concerns, may sure you reach out to your child's teacher.
Our PTA will be holding an online auction this year to help raise funds for our school. Below you will find more information on donations they are looking for as well as the link and dates of the live auction. Please share this link with family and friends who would like to help support our school. Go Penguins!
Our Virtual Family Night will be at the end of the month and should be a fun and positive event. There is more information and a link to RSVP in a section below.
We appreciate your continued patience with COVID protocol. Please review these links to know if your child is well and can attend school. If you have any questions, please call your health office at (651)-748-6915.

Richardson Online auction
Hello Richardson Families! We hope this message finds you well. The PTA has missed connecting with families during these unusual times and are looking forward to when we can all be together again.
We thought we would try something new this year for a fundraiser that we hope will be a chance for our community to come together. While we are sad to report that we will not be able to hold our school carnival for the second year in a row due to COVID restrictions, we are excited to share that we are planning to do an ONLINE AUCTION instead! This means that we will have a website with a variety of items for people to bid on. It will give families a chance to participate in efforts to raise money by bidding on items and sharing the auction link with other family and friends so they too can take part in our efforts. We also thought it would be fun for our school to work together to create some of our auction items by contributing to themed baskets. Each grade has been assigned a theme and we are hoping as many people as possible would be able and willing to donate one or two items that we can then use to create fun gift baskets for the auction.
Proceeds from our fundraisers are used to fund or purchase physical education and playground equipment, computer equipment, classroom listening libraries, field trips, busing fees, live performances, guest speakers and so much more!
Because of COVID we are behind on our fundraising efforts and really need everyone’s help in order to generate as much excitement as possible for this event. It will be the only fundraiser we will hold for the 2020-2021 school year. Please send your donation items with your child to school, or if your children are full time distance learners you may drop off your donations in the school office by Friday April 23rd. The auction itself will go live on Saturday May 1st and run through Friday May 7th. You will receive more information about the auction itself in the weeks to come.
Here is the link for the live auction that will start Saturday, May 1st and run through Friday, May 7th.

PTA News
The PTA is a non-profit, school-based organization, designed to support our students and staff. The PTA is comprised of all the Richardson parents and/or guardians. All are welcome!
PTA Goals & Objectives
- To support and enrich our children's education
- To facilitate good communication between administration, staff, and parents
- To promote school spirit
- To encourage volunteerism
Please consider becoming part of this amazing team. With some of the current member's children now being in the 5th grader, this would be a great time to join the team and shadow the members who will move on at the end of the school year.
The PTA is also looking for a volunteer to chair the book fair.
If you have any questions or want to be more involved, please contact Sarah Morrison at richardsonptapresident@gmail.com
