We invite all families to join us as YOU are an integral part of Dorr Elementary. Happening In The Halls
3rd Graders Hit A High Note
Our 3rd Grade students put on a wonderful performance for family and friends at their concert this week. They have worked so hard in music class over the past few months and their dedication really showed. It was a great performance. Thank you to our music teacher Mr. Truswell for another amazing production!
Cat In The Hat? We Know A Lot About That!
Mrs. Raab‘s class has been conducting an author study on Theodore Geisel also known as Dr. Seuss. On March 14 the students dressed up like Dr. Seuss characters and paraded proudly through the halls. What a fun way learn about one of our favorite authors!
Postcards That Are Out Of This World.....Literally!
In collaboration with Blue Origin’s Club for the Future Program, Second grade students at Dorr wrote postcards reflecting their thoughts on the topic: What will the future look like? These postcards will be transported into space by Blue Origin, postmarked, and returned to students within the next year. Will this inspire a Dorr student to be an astronaut when they grow up? Time will tell!!
Kindergartners Travel To New Heights
Our Kindergarten classes visited the Kalamazoo Air Zoo recently! Check out the video below to see just how much fun they had!
Kids Heart Challenge - Complete!
To celebrate a successful Kids Heart Challenge, students had just one more challenge....... A fun obstacle course. Students were loving this activity! Students who raised $175.00 in donations were also treated to a special lunch with Mr. Weber from Dorr Subway. A great end to a great event!
Young 5's Classes Learn To Be Brave
The character trait for the month is 'Courage'. Our Young 5's Classes welcomed some very brave men and women in the community to share how they are brave in the face of danger. Officer Borns with the Wyoming Police Department shared about what he does as a police officer and how he stays calm under pressure. Members of the Dorr Township Fire Department shared what it's like to be inside a burning structure, and how they have to be brave! It was a great lesson on community service!
Lucky Little Leprechauns
Reading Month More Fun Then Ever Before In Room 204!
Mrs. Licari's 3rd graders have been loving all the fun reading month activities! They have read all different types of books, got to free read in cozy nooks, and have welcomed special guest "mystery readers" to read to the class.
Spring Is Sprouting In Art
This week in art, 3rd graders focused on spring. And what says spring better than tulips! The beautiful bright colors made us all even more excited for spring!
