Principal's Message
Dear Parents,
We have many events and activities coming up in March both school-wide and district-wide. Our Camp Avenue Reflections Awards Night will take place on March 5th at 6:30 PM. The students who participated in Reflections did an excellent job and should be commended for their efforts. Our PTA the Camp sports nights will take place with with grades 2 and 3 on March 1st and grades 4-6 on March 8th. Our SEPTA Fashion show will be an exciting event on March 13th. I hope to see you there! The month will end with our annual North Merrick Theater Arts performance at Brookside on March 29th and 30th. The sixth grade students are filled with excitement to perform the production of Annie.
Please remember we do not have school on March 14th for Parent Teacher Conferences. Conferences are scheduled from 12:00 - 7:00 PM. You and the classroom teacher will be able to discuss your child's performance in the classroom and the progress he/she has made this year. All report cards will be accessible to parents of students in grades 1-6 on March 13th on the parent portal, using the user names and passwords you were provided earlier in the year.
Our next PTA meeting will be at 7:30 PM on Monday, March 11th. I hope you can join us.
As always, I look forward to seeing you throughout the month.
Sincerely,
Hillary Bromberg, Ed.D.

Did You Know we Have a Direct Absence Line?
Please be reminded that regular school attendance is not only mandated by law, but is a key ingredient for educational success. Legal reasons for absences include: illness, death in family, court appearances, and observance of religious holidays. If your child is frequently absent due to illness, you will be contacted and medical documentation may be requested. All other absences will be considered unexcused or truant.
Please also be aware that lateness to school can be considered partial truancy and is monitored as closely as absences. Chronic lateness is disruptive to the students in the class, the teacher, and most importantly, to the child. Parents and guardians are asked to contact the school to report each absence. This can be done by calling our Absentee Line at 516-379-3733. If you are requesting classwork and/or homework for your child on the day of the absence, please leave that message with the nurse or on the absence line. Parents are requested to submit a written and signed excuse note for each absence your child has, when they return to school.
