Frontier Parent Newsletter
February News
Note From Miss Rutan:
Hello Frontier Families,
I wanted to share some exciting news with you all. Recently, I had the privilege of attending the National ESEA (Elementary-Secondary Education Act) Conference along with some of our teachers. At the conference, Frontier was recognized as the Idaho selection for the National Distinguished School award.
Out of 65 schools across the nation, Frontier was acknowledged for its work with students from Title I schools. It was a humbling experience to see our staff's hard work recognized. Over the past six years, I've witnessed their dedication firsthand, and it was truly gratifying to see them acknowledged.
Our students demonstrate determination and passion for learning every day. They embrace challenges with enthusiasm and take pride in their learning. I want to thank you, the parents and guardians, for encouraging your children to be active participants in our community and for fostering a love for learning.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
If you have any questions, or concerns please contact me at rutan.katie@westada.org or by phone at (208) 350-4190.
Sincerely,
Katie Rutan
Principal

Mission Frontier Celebration - 100 Days of Becoming Our Best Selves!
In the spirit of our Frontier Mission Statement, our students start each day with purpose and dedication. For the past two and a half years, reciting our mission statement has become a cherished daily tradition. It instills in our students a deep understanding of what it means to be a Frontier student and the values we hold dear.
This year, on our 100th day of school, we celebrated this milestone with an extraordinary event that truly embodied the essence of our mission. Students gathered in Frontier Square and teamed up with their Buddy Classrooms from different grades for an exciting STEM challenge.
The challenge? To construct a habitat for an assigned animal using only Legos, incorporating all four core values from our mission statement. As they tackled this task, students demonstrated exceptional collaboration, sharing ideas, and overcoming obstacles together.
Throughout the activity, positive relationships flourished, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie among our students. As the habitats took shape, there was an overwhelming sense of pride and celebration in our collective learning journey.
This special day served as a shining example of the best of Frontier Falcon spirit. It showcased our commitment to fostering not only academic excellence but also teamwork, creativity, and community. Together, we continue to soar towards new heights, guided by our mission and fueled by our shared passion for learning and growth.
Important Events and Information
Noon Duty Needed!!! Permanent or Volunteers!
We are currently seeking dedicated individuals to fulfill the important role of noon duty volunteer during our lunch period. With our lunchtime extending from 11:50 AM to 1:00 PM, we recognize the crucial need for supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of our students.
Ideally, we are in search of a permanent individual to take on this responsibility. However, until this position is filled, we are initiating a volunteer sign-up program to ensure coverage during lunch hours.
If you are able to commit to being a permanent noon duty volunteer or can offer your time for a few days, we welcome your support. Please consider signing up using the link provided below:

Ready! for Kindergarten - Parents with children 0-5 years old
We are thrilled to announce an exciting collaboration between Frontier Elementary and the Idaho Association for the Education of Young Children (AEYC). Together, we are bringing you one of the most beneficial parent workshops available: READY! For Kindergarten®.
This invaluable program is not limited to families within our school boundaries; rather, we extend this opportunity to all families in our general area. We believe every family should have access to this valuable information, so we're reaching out to all care providers in the vicinity to ensure inclusivity.
Our first workshop is scheduled for this Thursday night. Here are the details for all upcoming workshops. Three workshops will be held.
- Date: Feb. 22, March 28, April 25th
- Time: 5:30-7:30
- Location: Frontier Elementary School (Begin in the gym for dinner)
Furthermore, we are pleased to offer free materials for families to take home, along with a complimentary dinner and childcare provided during the workshop.
The READY! For Kindergarten® workshops, developed by the Children's Reading Foundation, focus on fostering crucial pre-literacy, pre-math, and social-emotional skills through engaging activities like talking, singing, reading, and playing. These workshops and materials are designed to empower parents and caregivers with the tools needed to support their children's learning and development.
As a project of Idaho AEYC, these workshops are offered free of charge to families across Idaho, thanks to various grants and donors. We are committed to connecting parents with workshops in their local communities, whether hosted by schools, libraries, childcare facilities, or other community organizations.

Monday Meet-Up with Ms. Rutan - March 4th @ 3:15 pm
Join us for another Monday Meeting with Ms. Rutan before Parent Pick-up on March 4th. In an effort to accommodate more families, we're trying a new time. Meet us in Frontier Square at 3:15 PM for an opportunity to connect and communicate.
During this session, we'll provide a space for socialization among parents, a chance for questions and answers with Ms. Rutan, and our main focus will be on "The Nest." If you've heard about this space at Frontier and want to learn more about its purpose and use, this is the perfect opportunity.
We encourage your participation during the Q&A session to share your thoughts and suggestions for future topics of discussion. Your input will shape our future meetups, ensuring they address the topics most important to our community.
We look forward to seeing you there! We will be sure to get you back to your cars or out front in time to meet your children after school.

Parking Lot Procedures
Appreciation is extended to all who have diligently followed our parking lot procedures. While overall compliance has been commendable, we have identified two areas requiring special attention: the side fire lane and the front entrance.
A gentle reminder: student drop-off and pick-up should exclusively occur in the front of the building, and not at the side fire lane.
Additionally, we kindly request heightened awareness at the entrance. The middle lane is designated to remain open, not for left-hand turns, but for those entering the parking lot with intentions to park, separate from the pick-up line. If your intention is to turn left upon exiting, we ask that you keep to the right and patiently await your turn. Your cooperation in adhering to these guidelines is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
