School News
Hello Sugar Creek Families!
We have just wrapped up our 2nd week of school. Our students are doing a wonderful job showing their Shark Strong Character Values of being kind, showing respect and having integrity. These are our schools’ core values and you will continue to hear our teachers, staff and students review, teach and encourage them on a daily basis. In order for our school to strive to be a No Place for Hate school, our students, staff and families have to work together and practice demonstrating these important shark strong core values.
Sugar Creek is such a wonderful place to learn for many reasons. One of our favorite reasons is because our school community is filled with so many families from various countries and cultures. As a mom, I love that my children interact, learn and appreciate other children from around the world. In an effort to acknowledge and celebrate our school’s diversity, we will be celebrating cultures throughout the year, as well as building awareness in different areas of diversity. Starting in September we will highlight and celebrate Hispanic Heritage, as this is National Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15- Oct. 15). The link below can be used to learn more about Hispanic Heritage Month. https://www.hispanicheritagemonth.org/ Our students will be exposed to multi-cultural literature, Latin American music, and other Hispanic cultural facts. We want our students to learn and gain an appreciation for different cultures and ways of living in our world.
Reminders on arriving to school on time:
Our classroom start time starts at 7:40 so please arrive with sufficient time to allow your child to be in their classroom by 7:40. I want to be sure that the expectations are clear so that we continue to be fair and consistent with this district wide expectation. Our car rider line starts at 7:10- I’ve noticed heavy congestion in our driveway as cars are exiting due to the stop signs and high volume of cars. This is a friendly reminder, that our car rider line is smooth and fast moving between 7:15-7:25. If you would like a solution to the congestion, I encourage you to arrive earlier in the car rider line.
School Events and PTO Events
Our PTO is an amazing group of volunteers that are dedicated to help support our students, families and our school. We have several school events and PTO events in September and October. PTO will be sending out a newsletter highlighting those events. I thought I would also send out these events- it never hurts to repeat these events! Many of these events will be explained in more detail as the event approaches, but for now save the date in your calendars.
