IMHS Drama Presents: When Bad Things Happen to Good Actors
Well done to the actors and crew that made Friday and Saturday's shows a huge success!
Iron Mountain Public Schools Drama performed “When Bad Things Happen to Good Actors”, a short comedy written by Jason Pizzarello and Ian McWeth and directed by IMPS Drama advisor, Linda Carpenter in the Iron Mountain High School Auditorium on Friday and Saturday.
“When Bad Things Happen to Good Actors” is a simple one-act production of The Wizard of Oz gets derailed by missed cues, forgotten lines, and a renegade sound board op who refuses to play anything but dinosaur noises. A comedy that proves, when it comes to live theater, everything that can go wrong, will go wrong, and it sure was hilarious!
IMPS Drama consists of 17 Iron Mountain students from grades 6 to 12, and hosts a production every semester.
Congratulations to the IMHS 2024 Junior and Senior Prom Court!
Central Gymnasium Updates
We are excited to share that the Central Middle School gymnasium has been undergoing a refresh project!
In addition to refinished flooring and new paint, the gymnasium received safety improvements to the bleachers, LED lighting, refurbished scoreboards, and new basketball rims with new pulley systems complete with winches, cables, and straps.
In the coming weeks, a new sound system and a wall decal will also be installed.
Iron Mountain Public Schools thanks Iron Mountain-Kingsford Community Schools for their contribution to the project and for partnering to provide functional and updated spaces for student-athletes and local members of the community in our two gymnasium locations.
The IMHS Jazz Band traveled to Marquette on April 5th to participate in the NMU Jazz Festival. The band had the opportunity to perform and then got to spend an hour working with jazz clinicians from the Marquette area. They also had the privilege of attending a clinic with Ellen Rowe, the director of jazz studies at the University of Michigan. The event concluded with a concert featuring Ellen Rowe and the NMU Jazz Band.
The IMHS band spent their spring break at Disney World in Florida this year. Combined with the Westwood High School Band, they spent 5 days in Florida, enjoying each of the Disney theme parks. They also participated in the Disney Imagination Campus workshop, an almost three hour experience working with an Orlando area professional musician. The highlight of the trip was a performance on the water side stage at Disney Springs, which received a very positive response from the large audience. The IMHS students did an outstanding job of representing our school with pride.

We value your opinion!
Dear Families,
Our district values your feedback! We are currently surveying families in order to gain insight into your perception of our school and district effectiveness. To ensure we continue to provide high quality, rigorous learning experiences that meet the needs of our learners and prepare them for college and career, we need your feedback. We want to know what you think.
To administer these surveys, we have partnered with Panorama Education to conduct our 2023-24 Family Survey. Panorama safeguards your privacy, keeping your responses confidential. The survey shouldn’t take more than a few minutes to complete, and will be a valuable source of information for us as we work to make our schools and district as good as they can be.
You may complete the survey online between March 25 and April 30, using a computer, tablet, or smartphone by visiting the link that is assigned to the school your student attends. We thank you in advance for your thoughtful responses. If you have any questions about the survey administration, please don’t hesitate to contact Allison Lorenzoni at lorenzonia@imschools.org or 779-2610 ext. 4815.
