The Mata Memo
February 24, 2021
Principal's Message
Dear Mata families,
We are back. I hope that everyone is safe and restored from the winter blast that affected our city. As a community, I noticed how we all came together to reach out and check on each other as well as communicate resources that were available to those in need. For that, I thank you all. We understand that at this point there are some who may have gone days without electricity or water. If there is anything that we can do to support you, please let us know. We want to know that you are physically and mentally well.
Our staff is happy to be back and ready to work. We know that it has been a tough school year, but we are keeping our heads held high and pressing forward for what is best for our students.
Please also note that parent conferences will be held virtually next week via appointment with your teacher. Please make sure you sign up for a time.

We will administer the middle of the year MAP test in reading (3/1) to our 4th-6th grade students. Additionally, all 5th-grade students will test in Science (2/25). The NWEA MAP Growth provides teachers with accurate and actionable evidence to help target instruction for each student or group of students.
Distance learning students can come to campus for the administration of the MOY assessment. To allow for physical distancing, students will test in the new wing of the building in one of the large science lab classrooms. Testing will begin at 8:20 a.m. and students will contact their parents upon completion of testing to be picked up from campus.
Distance learning students who are unable to participate in on-campus setting will assess remotely. Please take a moment to complete the Google form sent by your teacher so that we may plan accordingly.
