Learning Materials Pick-Up Information
Please mark your calendar to come pick up learning supplies!
Please make plans to come to Ridgeway to get your next set of learning materials on Thursday, December 10 from 4:00-6:00. We have learning materials for all students. ALL students – virtual students, in-person students, students in every unit - will have a paper bag with learning materials, winter/holiday activities, and more! Park in the parking lot across the street from Ridgeway on Grand. Put a sign with your student’s name in the windshield (THIS HELPS A LOT). Please stay in your car, and we will bring a bag of supplies to your car. When you come, please bring any library books or other Ridgeway books/items you need to return.
Please NOTE: It will be getting very dark near the end of the supply pick-up time window. This will be new for us! Please be careful as you pull in and out of the lot with staff members walking between cars. We will have flashlights and phones for light.
CoMO Study Buddies
The Math Honor Societies at Hickman High School and Rock Bridge High School have gotten their free tutoring service for math and science up and running. The tutoring will be all virtual, and is available for students in grades K-12. Families will sign up for a 30-minute tutoring session each week. You must sign up by noon each Thursday for the following week. Here is the link to learn more and sign up:

Library Books!
This week during library time, students have been requesting which new library books they would like to have over winter break. Library books will be distributed in material bags that will be picked up at the material pick-up night Thursday, December 10. If your child is a Virtual@Mizzou student, they can also request books by placing them on hold in Destiny Discover or filling out the book request form. Please place holds by Tuesday, Dec 8. For a video reminder on how to place holds please see here: https://safeshare.tv/x/i5fByM_bXjE
Before December 10, please have your child look around the house for any old library books to return. Bring those to Ridgeway when you come to pick up the new bag of supplies. Students can view their account to see which books they currently have checked out by logging into classlink, clicking on electronic library, choosing Follett Destiny Ridgeway. Then click on the three lines on the upper left-hand corner and choose “checkouts.”
I hope your winter season is filled with many evenings snuggled up with a good book!
Happy Reading! ~Mrs. Munsterman
Message from Ms. Cowdrey
Hi everyone! I sure miss seeing all your smiling faces IN PERSON. I hope everyone had a nice break last week.
P.E. is certainly different online than it is in person. The format for class has changed a little bit. Each week, there is a health lesson as well as a ‘Must Do” physical education lesson. There is also a “Can Do” page full of activities that are listed each week for you to do outside of class time. The “Can Do” page has family and individual activities for you.
I have really enjoyed having your family members and friends do the lessons with you. Try your best to be as active as possible during this time of virtual learning. Hopefully, we will be back together in person before too long.
Take care and I will see you in class!
Ms. Cowdrey
COVID Antigen Testing
Beginning December 3, 2020, COVID-19 testing will be available to CPS students and staff who are exhibiting symptoms of the illness.
The type of test that will be used is most accurate when administered in the first 7 days of symptom onset. Therefore, prior to testing, parents and/or guardians will call the CPS nurse triage phone line at 214-3975 to discuss the need for testing based on these guidelines. The phone line will be open from 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, school days only.
If it is determined that the student or staff member will be tested, an appointment will be made for one of the 2 testing sites located at either Hickman or Rock Bridge high schools. Testing appointments will be Monday-Friday, 9:30 a.m.-2:15 p.m. when school is in session. Testing will not be available on days that school is closed for breaks or snow days.
The test is performed by nasal swab. After the swab is done, the individual will return home and begin isolating until they receive their test result from a CPS nurse. The nurse will provide guidance on what actions should be taken based on the test result.
Questions? Contact our school nurse Julie Roberts JRoberts@cpsk12.org.
Ridgeway Yearbook/School Pictures
Recently, you may have received a flyer for T. Brown Photography. You are welcome to take advantage of the service they are providing, but those will not be the individual photos used for the school yearbook.
Our district vendor for school pictures and the school yearbook is Inter-State Studio company. Plans are being made for school pictures to be taken sometime in 2021. These will be the individual student pictures used in the Ridgeway yearbook. We also welcome your candid photos for the yearbook.
The yearbook needs your help!
Got pictures of the first day of school (virtual or in-person)? Any from supply pickup? Or curbside library pick up? How about pictures of your child learning at home?
Any photos you have of school related moments – from when every class was virtual, in-person and CPSElementary@Mizzou - are welcome.
Email photos to wgibbens@cpsk12.org. Thanks for your help!
