Spring News Bulletin
Just for Juniors (and Junior parents)!
Middle College Update 3/17/2016
Hello, Students and Families!
Scheduling!
Soon after spring break, we will be meeting with current juniors to plan summer and fall schedules. You can see the summer courses that will be offered HERE. The fall schedule of classes is not yet available, but should be soon--so keep checking. We will be able to actually register students for classes in early May, so there's still time to think about class selections.
State Testing
All juniors in the district are taking the new Smarter Balanced test. CAASP replaces the old STAR test. We are giving the test on 4/5 and 4/6 during Middle College class time. Students will get a score report in the summer that indicates how well they are meeting the standards. The scores are not reported to colleges, nor will they be noted on students' transcripts.
Progress Reports
We have received some feedback from some professors. Each advisor will communicate with parents and students if they receive feedback that a student's performance is lower than expected in a college course.
Yearbooks
The yearbook committee is hard at work on creating this year's yearbook. Information has already been sent to students on how to purchase their yearbook, but here's the link again. Yearbooks are between $15 (soft cover)-$23 (hard cover).

Spring Recruiting
If you have recommended Middle College to any families you personally know, please encourage them to complete their application no later than Saturday. It's looking like we're going to have more applicants than we're going to be able to admit for both the Junior and Senior spots available. This means we will probably have to make some tough choices and have a waitlist--so it will be important for applications to be submitted on time. Thank you for your referrals!

ACT/SAT
Time to register for the SAT and/or the ACT!
Register online using the home school ID (Carlmont 050270, M-A 050170, Sequoia 052605, Woodside 053808).
Fee waivers are available at the home high school in the College and Career Center -- these not only waive the fees for the tests, but will also waive application fees for UC and CSU next year, so it is worth it to ask if you may qualify!
Be sure to remember SAT/ACT account login information, as it will be needed during the college application process.
Wondering which to take? The difference between the ACT and SAT and ACT vs SAT
