Hello 56G Families,
It is hard to believe that we are less than a week away from spring break! The month of March has flown by with so many different activities and celebrations. As we head into our three day week next week, we have some fun things planned for our students. Check them out!
Spirit Week-March 25, 26, & 27
Monday-Sports Apparel Day: Wear your favorite jersey, t-shirt, or sweatshirt celebrating your favorite sport.
Tuesday-Favorite Book Character Day: Dress as your favorite book character.
Wednesday-Olympic Team Color: Wear your Olympic Team’s Color in preparation for the Wacky Olympics.
Enemies in the Orchard Author Visit and Q&A Session-March 26
We are super excited to invite Dana VanderLugt, the author of Enemies in the Orchard, back to 56G to do a Q&A session with our families on Tuesday, March 26th from 6:30-7:30. This event will take place in the cafeteria at 56G! It has been fun to talk with our students about this amazing book during March is Reading Month!
Wacky Olympics-March 27
On Wednesday, March 27th, students and staff will be participating in 56G’s first ever Wacky Olympics. During the Wacky Olympics, the Olympic Teams will be competing against one another in some wacky Olympic games. Students, please wear your team’s color for this fun event! The Wacky Olympics will start at 1:10 and last until around 2:30 on Wednesday. If you are leaving early for spring break, we ask that you do not pick students up during this time. Please pick them up before 1:00 or at the end of the day. It will be difficult to locate students during this time. Thank you!
Reptile Q&A Session
If you love reptiles, you won’t want to miss out learning more about them on March 26th from 6:30-7:30 in the cafeteria. We have a couple of students that have been completing a project on reptiles in their Genius Hour Class. They will be bringing in a few reptiles for students to learn more about. As part of their project, they are taking donations to support John Ball Zoo’s reptile room. Come learn more about various reptiles from our very own 56G students!

Sixth Grade Field Trip
We are excited to announce that our sixth grade students will be going on a field trip to 3 Mile Project on Tuesday, April 30th from 9:00 until 2:00. 3 Mile Project is a youth community center located in Walker. Our students will be able to participate in various activities including basketball, volleyball, gagaball, foosball, pool tables, movie theaters, video game stations, and a ninja course. More information along with permission forms will be sent home after spring break. Thank you to our amazing PTC for supporting this field trip and covering the majority of the cost to go.
We hope you all have a safe and relaxing spring break. We look forward to welcoming our students back to school on Monday, April 8th!

Morning Drop OFF Reminders!
Please remember to follow these procedures when dropping your students off in the morning! The unloading and drop off zone is between the two signs. Please pull all the way forward to the first sign or the car in front of you and DO NOT STOP at the crosswalk unless directed to do so. Students should only exit the vehicle in the unloading zone.
1. Use the car loop at the main entrance of the building.
2. Stay in the right lane and drop off your child in the drop-off zone. Staff wearing yellow vests will be directing traffic. Please pull all the way up to either the stop sign for the unloading zone or to the car in front of you.
3. Students will exit the cars on the passenger side of the car in the unloading zone. Do not allow students to exit the car on the driver’s side for safety reasons. Staff will direct them to the door that they will go in.
4. Parents remain in their vehicles.
5. Do not pass cars in the car line. Stay in a single file line until the cars move in front of you.

Hudsonville Public Schools Annual Education Report
The Annual Education Report (AER) is designed to meet state and federal requirements for reporting to parents and communities. The report provides detailed data on state administered student assessment results, accountability results, teacher qualification information, and the state results for the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP).
Parents and the community can access AER information for the district and individual schools by clicking
on the Annual Education Report tab on our website. If you have any questions regarding the AER information, please contact your child’s building principal.
COMMUNITY EVENTS
Hudsonville Competitive Robotics Informational Meeting
Is your student interested in computers, logic, building, mechanics, or robotics?
Join us to learn about the thrilling world of competitive robotics through Hudsonville Robotics! This informational meeting will give families insights into how we use technology and competition to foster teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity.
We will be offering an array of classes this spring to help students build their skills to compete in an amazing fall competition. The introductory meeting will be held on Monday, March 25, from 7 pm to 8 pm at the High School in room 110. The club program is open to boys and girls starting grades 5-12 next fall.

Community Education Programs
The sun is shining, and people are gearing up to ditch their winter coats for short sleeves! Over at Hudsonville Community Education, we are also excited for the upcoming warmer days. We have added new programs to help your kids develop skills, form friendships, and, above all, have a great time! Check out what's in store, and keep an eye out for a sneak peek of our summer lineup coming your way soon! Registration for summer kicks off on April 1st.

REMINDERS
Student Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures
Student drop-off and pick-up are very busy times in the school driveway and hallways. If you are dropping your child off in the carline, please remain in your vehicle and follow the procedures below.
Car Line Drop-off Procedures
7:30 a.m.

To Keep Our Line Moving Tips:
Follow the procedures noted above.
Say your goodbyes and give kisses prior to dropping off in the car line. :)
Have backpacks/supplies ready to exit car with students.

Car Line Pick-up Procedures
2:45 p.m.
1. Pull into the parking lot and park.
2. Students will be walked out to the cross walk and then will go directly to their cars.
Tech @ 56G and Tech Fees for ALL Sixth Grade Students
- Our fifth grade students will be assigned a device that they will use and keep at school.
- As part of our 1-to-1 device initiative, all sixth grade students will be issued a Chromebook and case for use during the school year. Each student must pay a $25 technology fee with a $75 max for each family. You can conveniently pay online using these directions (desktop / mobile) . Checks and cash are also accepted and may be turned in at 56G to the main office.
- 6th grade students will receive new devices. New students will be issued devices.

SCHOOL HOURS
Full Day
- Doors open at 7:30 a.m.
School begins at 7:50 a.m.
School ends at 2:45 p.m.
Office hours: 7:30 a.m.-3:15 p.m.
Attendance
If your student will not be attending school due to illness or other reasons, please call the office or email the attendance email (56Gattendance@hpseagles.net) before 8:15 am. Students who are not called in by a parent/guardian will be marked with an unexcused absence.
If your student will be late, arriving after 7:50 am, please call the office in the morning. Any students arriving after 7:50 am must be signed in by a parent/guardian.
Planned absences of more than 3 days require a vacation request form to be filled out. Forms can be picked up in the office, emailed to you, or you can print them off by clicking on the links below. Please turn in vacation request forms at least 5 days prior to the planned absence.
Volunteer Background Check
The Hudsonville Public School District has the right to approve or deny your request if your background check does not meet the standards of HPS Board Policy.
