It is the most important meal of the day; it provides many benefits to our health.
Breakfast provides the body and brain with fuel after a night without food. Without breakfast, you are running on empty, like trying to start the car with no fuel!
WHEN AND WHAT?
You should have breakfast in the first hours after you wake up. Apart from providing us with energy, breakfast foods are good sources of important nutrients.
Fruit and vegetables are good sources of vitamins and minerals so try to include them in your breakfast.
If you skip breakfast, you are more likely to reach for high sugar and fatty snacks in the morning.
Food for the brain!
- Breakfast restores glucose levels that the brain needs to function. Breakfast can improve behaviour and improve grades. Just like any other organ in the body, the brain needs energy to work.
- Your body needs energy to work; energy needs vary depending on activity and life stage. Growing children need a lot of energy.

- Eat something in the first hours after you wake up. Eat a yoghurt or banana,
- One healthy habit leads to another. Breakfast eaters tend to also have other healthy habits, like being more active or eating more fruit and vegetables. Make eating breakfast your one healthy habit!
