The history of yoga
Yoga originated from India and is now practiced in many different cultures. In Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism the word yoga means "spiritual discipline". The art of yoga is focused on meditation, breathing, relaxation, and spirituality. Modern yoga today is based on 5 basic principals proper relaxation, proper exercise, proper breathing, proper diet, and positive thinking.

Why we chose yoga and the impact it had on us
We chose yoga because it is fun, exciting, and a great way to relax your body and sore muscles. We completed 3 DVD's on yoga over the course of 5 weeks. Yoga impacted us in such a great way that we recommend it to all ages and is a great work out for everyone. Yoga helped with mental and physical stress relieving and made your body feel good after the workout.
We tried Yoga, Zumba, Pilates and kick boxing. We found that yoga was the most beneficial and relaxing workout out of the options we had so we decided to base our visual aid on the topic of Yoga.
Other benefits of doing yoga
Strength
Yoga is a lot more than just relaxing and stretching. Yoga builds up your strength by forcing you to hold difficult positions for long periods of time.
Focus
Yoga centers your focus on your form and your breathing. This helps in many different positions by relaxing your body and having your brain only focusing on you.
Relaxation
The environment most people do yoga is in a heated, darkened, room. This relaxes and calms ones body to focus on what its trying to accomplish. Relaxation.
Experiences on the way...
Throughout this experience we tried many different workouts including Zumba, Pilates and Kick Boxing as well as simply just working out on our own. We concluded that yoga was the most beneficial to our mental and physical health. Everyone should consider trying Yoga because of the great health benefits it provides.
