Millsap Memorial Scholarship
This fund was established in 1995 as a tribute to two Millsap students, Elizabeth Stevens, a fifth grader, and Nathan German, a third grader, who were both lost in tragic automobile accidents during that school year. In 1999, Adam Skinner, a 6th grader and former Millsap student was added to those we were honoring.
This year, due to the generosity of Millsap parents, students, & staff, THREE $1000 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors. Recipients of this scholarship are judged on academic ability, financial need, and leadership demonstrated through school and community activities. Any student who attended Millsap for at least one year is eligible to apply.
Applications have been given to the counselors at the high schools in which we are zoned: Cy-Fair, Cy-Creek, and Cy-Woods. You may also e-mail millsap@cfisd.net for an application.
They are due by April 12th. Good luck!

Notes from Our Counselor....
Our value this month is peace. You can show peace when you care more about each other than winning an argument. Albert Einstein once said: “Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.” What do you think he meant by that? Have you ever learned something new about a person or situation that changed your opinion? Seeking to understand can help everyone involved in any situation. Give it a try!
5th grade parents and teachers, thank you for your support in returning your child’s 6th grade Elective form. If you have not turned them in, please send them back as soon as possible. Thank you.

Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten Registration for 2018-2019
Pre-registration for 2018-2019 kindergarten classes will be held in all elementary schools on April 18, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
If you plan to register your child after April 18th, please make an appointment with the campus registrar. For the 2018 - 2019 school year, children entering kindergarten for the first time must be five years old on or before September 1, 2018. Due to Texas state law on age requirements, no exceptions will be made.
Students currently enrolled in the district’s prekindergarten program are automatically registered for kindergarten. The student’s permanent folder, which contains the student’s birth certificate and immunization records, will be sent to the student’s home school for the kindergarten year. Therefore, there is no need for parents of current prekindergarteners to attend the kindergarten preregistration.
Registration Requirements
The following documents are required when registering students for school in CFISD:
· a certified copy of the child’s birth certificate from the Bureau of Vital Statistics
· a current immunization record
· a government-issued, photo ID for the child’s parent or legal guardian
· proof of residency (see details below)
· a social security card for each child, if available
Proof of Residency: At the time of registration, parents will be asked to provide proof of residence dated within the last 30 days. Documents that are provided should reflect the parent/guardian's name and street address. If you are a homeowner, please be prepared to submit a current electric, gas, or water bill for proof of residency. If you are a lessee, please be prepared to submit your current lease agreement, along with a current light, gas, or water bill as proof of residency.
For additional information, please contact Millsap or check the district website https://www.cfisd.net/en/parents-students/registration/admissions-attendance-and-transfers/kindergar/

The Giving Tree
Please parents, take a look at our beautiful Giving Tree, painted by one of our wonderful volunteers!! This tree gives you the opportunity to bless the teachers at Millsap. Pick an apple off the tree and fulfill that teacher's wish. The apples have items that are valued at $10 and under. When you have fulfilled that teacher's wish, send it to school with your child with that teacher's name on it or drop it off at the front office. The teachers at Millsap are so excited about this and look forward to our support! Make our teachers’ dreams come true!!! The Giving Tree is located on the windows of the VIPS room; you can easily see it from the lunch room. Thank you in advance for your support!

Notes from Our Nurse
Medication Administration
Medication is to be delivered and picked up by a parent or guardian and brought to the clinic in the original container labeled with child's name, name of the medication and directions for the time and dosage. Physician's name must be on prescription medication. Students may not carry medications - including cough drops.
Guidelines for Keeping Sick Children Home from School
A sick child who is unable to participate in school in a meaningful way should be kept home to rest and recover until symptoms resolve. Keeping a sick child home also protects other children, school staff, and visiting community members from contracting an illness that can be spread from person to person. Please be aware of the following guidelines for school attendance.
- Fever: A child should remain home with fever greater than 100° F and should only return after he/she has been fever free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medicine such as Tylenol or Motrin.
- Diarrhea/Vomiting: A child with diarrhea and/or vomiting should stay at home and return to school only after being symptom free for 24 hours.
- Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye): Following a diagnosis of pink eye, a child may return to school 24 hours after the first dose of prescribed medication has been administered.
If you take your child to a healthcare provider for an illness, please be sure to request a written letter stating when your child may return to school.
