Everett Newsletter - 4.26.24
April 26, 2024
Dear Team Everett,
This is truly such a bittersweet time for me as we wind down this year. Last night at Family Sharing Night drove this home for me. Seeing you all and feeling the love in the halls made me realize that this game is in the final period (that’s a hockey reference for my new hockey friends I met last night). It hits me in waves that this is happening and while I am beyond proud and honored to take on the Assistant Superintendent role next year, I am feeling the loss of the direct connection with families. It is this personal connection and the relationships that create the bonds to be able to effectively do this work. I vow to continue to stay connected to students, buildings, and families so I can always make decisions that are in the best interest of our children.
Thank you, once again, for your support, smiles, and kindness. Enjoy your weekend!
All my best,
Coach Fitz

Spring MAP Testing
District 67 students in grades 2-8 will take the NWEA Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) during April 29 - May 10. MAP is a Common Core-aligned, adaptive, computer-based assessment. This nationally normed assessment is designed to measure growth over time in the areas of reading and math. The district utilizes the achievement and growth data from MAP to inform instructional planning for individuals and groups of students; and measure growth from year-to-year.
APT News and Events
Family Sharing Night was a hit! Students shared writing pieces, art projects, science projects and more with their family. Classrooms and hallways were filled with smiling parents as their children hurried them to see another area of the school. And, the teacher’s enjoyed a delicious meal sponsored by parents and the APT to allow them the energy to get them through an extended work day. It was a blessing to have everyone share their kindness on this special evening.
Events to Look Forward to in May:
Donate to the D67 Spring Food Drive Next Week! The Everett APT is proudly leading our school’s participation in the annual D67 Spring Food Drive. The drive will be held Monday, April 29 through Friday, May 3. Donations can be dropped off in the bins outside during drop-off and pick-up or inside the front vestibule of the school during school hours.
To encourage participation, we are holding a friendly competition – the grade level with the most donations will win a popsicle party! All food will go to Lake County children and families who rely on school meals to help bridge the gap over the summer when school is not in session. Let’s make this Spring Food Drive our most successful yet! Reach out to Kate Neer, Katy Jaramillo or Kateri Rapport with questions.
