GARFIELD PTA NEWS
Hello Tiger families!
YEARBOOKS: We have recently had a number of families reach out and express struggles with ordering their yearbooks. We apologize for these issues and want to assure everyone we are doing our best to get the issue resolved with our reps at Dorian. The deadline to order has been extended to the end of April to allow more time for families to place their order. If you are struggling to successfully order a yearbook, we suggest contacting their tech support for assistance and/or trying again later. We will have some extras when they arrive in June that may be purchased on a first come, first serve basis for families that do not get one ordered now.
CARNIVAL/FIELD DAY: After a lot of consideration, it has been determined that we do not have the bandwidth to organize a carnival this academic year. We have every intention to get a jump start on it next year and hope to be able to provide a carnival for our Tigers in the 23-24 academic year. Rather, we will be having a carnival themed field day and all the generous donations our families have sent us will be made into gift bags and handed out to the students at the event. We will need A LOT of volunteers for field day. If you would like to volunteer, please sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090F45ABA929A7FA7-field. Please remember, you must be a district approved volunteer to participate at school events. If you are not currently approved, you can find the application in our Linktree link below.
TREASURER NEEDED: We have an opportunity available for someone to be our treasurer next year! For more information or to volunteer for the position, please contact Sophia at sophia.dodd@marketplacesir.com.
Thank you for your continued support! Please do not hesitate to reach out to us at garfieldtigerspta@gmail.com if you have any questions.
Next PTA meeting: Monday, May 15 @ 6:30pm in the Garfield Library and over Zoom (https://everettsd.zoom.us/j/93772216134 - Meeting ID: 937 7221 6134 Passcode: 412985)
We hope to see you there!

Kindergarten Registration is Open
Will your child be 5 years old by August 31? You can complete your child’s online enrollment for kindergarten. An easy and quick process as detailed in the step-by-step parent walkthrough video available in multiple languages on our website www.everettsd.org/kindergartenenrollment.
Enrolling early will ensure invitations to your school’s kindergarten events and participation in Everett Ready, a transition-into-kindergarten program offered for one week in August to all enrolled kindergarteners.
EPS offers the following Choice Programs beginning in kindergarten– early enrollment is recommended as space is limited. Click on the links to receive additional information on the programs:
• Lighthouse Cooperative – Housed at Jefferson Elementary School This K-5 program features standard district curriculum with an overlay of parent involvement via weekly classroom volunteering and support for enrichment activities such as field trips and parent-led specialty lessons.
• Dual Language Spanish Immersion Program – Located at Emerson Elementary School Students are immersed in the Spanish language and culture with the majority of instruction being in Spanish. Priority will be given to students within the Emerson Elementary school attendance area. If a high number of students apply, a lottery will be conducted to select students.
• Port Gardner Family Partnership K-12 – located on Sequoia High School Campus Port Gardner K-12 is a parent partnership program, where parents/guardians are the primary educators of their children. Our program is a blend of on-site classes taught by certificated teachers, and remote classes taught by parents/guardians in the home.
We are looking forward to welcoming you and your student to kindergarten!

Arrival/Dismissal Safety
Reminders for drop-off and pick-up
- Drive SLOW, especially near the crosswalks. Be respectful and follow the directions of our Safety Patrol staff and students.
- PULL FORWARD. Drop-off and pick-up in the designated space in front of the school. We have a staff member there for arrival and dismissal to ensure safety of our students. Do NOT let your kids out of your car before reaching the front of the school, nor let them into your car until they can safely enter passenger curbside in the front of the school.
- Avoid turning LEFT to enter as this contributes to traffic congestion and parking lot safety issues.
- Do NOT park in the RESERVED PARKING spots unless you have a disabled parking permit allowing you to do so.
