Buffalo Soldier Infantry
The 24th and 25th infantry were assigned to Fort Concho, Texas. They guarded the border between Mexico and the U.S., and they also killed the Native Americans.
More Infantry
The 25th infantry was assigned to guard the border. They were later moved up north in the Dakotas. They also participated in one of the last major Indian war campaigns.
Buffalo Soldier Emblem
The Native Americans called these soldiers buffalo soldiers because of their dark skin. One of there mottoes is "We can, we will". Another one is "Ready and Forward".

This is a map of the significant buffalo soldier sites. The buffalo soldiers did anything from building roads to escorting the U.S. mail. They were located in the southwestern parts of the U.S. for most of the time, but they did go up north a few times for various tasks.
Buffalo Soldier Cavalry
In 1875 the 9th and 10th cavalry were sent to Fort Concho, Texas. The fort housed 9th cavalry companies A-F, K, and M. It also held the 10th cavalry companies A, D-G, I, L, and M.
Louisiana Purchase
The Louisiana Purchase was the purchase of a territory from France. It has parts of 15 present day states. This purchase was a big part to the U.S. western expansion and I felt it should be included.

They were active from 1866–1951. They fought in western america during 1866 to the early 1890's.
