Monday Morning Memo - Week 18
1/6/19
Dear Poupard Leaders,
Choice PD
This is a reminder to register for Choice PD being held on Tuesday, January 8. Please complete link provided above no later than tomorrow. For any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Angela Anatalio.
Grosse Pointe Practice Writing Window
The practice GPW window begins tomorrow, January 7th and extends through January 25th. New teachers, please connect with your grade level partners and review Kari Mannino's email regarding the practice writing assessment.
PBIS Stations
The PBIS Team is organizing a Station Rotation day for our students. This day will allow for our students to hear and practice expectations for different parts of our building (office, lunchroom, playground, etc). Our goal for having students practice these stations is to provide consistent and clear expectations for all our students across the building. We will discuss this further tomorrow during our PLC.
ELA Professional Learning
Teachers will be receiving professional learning opportunities that will take place between January - May of 2019. Molly Funk, our ELA consultant from Core School Solutions will be guiding our teachers on using high impact literacy mini-lessons to increase student literacy growth.
Moving into next year, our district focus will shift to all Components of Literacy Instruction and Essentials:
- Read-aloud whole group
- Shared reading whole group
- Targeted and intentional small group/guided reading
- Individual/collaborative reading
*Please refer to Keith Howell's email for additional information.
NWEA
The NWEA Testing Window starts on tomorrow, January 7th and runs through February 8th. Makeup Testing will be held inside of the lab during the week of February 4th.
Homeroom Teachers will have two options in conducting the testing sessions for their classes.
Option A: Teachers may test inside the computer lab
Option B: Teachers may borrow Chromebooks from a grade level partner and test inside of their classroom
Those those interested in testing within their homerooms should watch this MAP Test Proctor Tutorial (6 mins) by clicking here. Please let Karen or myself know if you'd like assistance setting up a testing session inside of your classroom.
*You may begin scheduling your NWEA tests by clicking here.

Magnet Nominations
Teachers nominations begin in January and will be accepted through February 6th, 2019.
Teachers, let me know if you have students that you believe would make great candidates for the magnet program.
- Please share your weekly newsletters with me by "Ccing" me when they are emailed out to families. This allows for me to stay connected with all of the exciting things happening inside of your classrooms.
- Behavior Referrals must be completed using the Online Behavior Form. Staff must complete the behavior form anytime a student is sent down to the office for a major office referral. Homeroom Teachers and Special Area Teachers are responsible for contacting the family to notify them of any incidents that occurred inside of the classroom. Please call home over an email whenever possible. Personally, I'd recommend sharing anything over 3-4 sentences over a phone call as well.
