Suggested Activities for the week
School Wide Activities
We have a College Wall of Fame by the cafeteria and a map indicating the location of the college or university that our MWE staff attended. Please take a minute to stop by and look at it with your class.
The daily morning announcements will promote the week and the district’s goal of T-2-4. Please take time to discuss them with your students. This would be a great community circle activity.
Students and staff are encouraged to wear college/university or technical school t-shirts throughout the week. Staff may wear jeans daily if wearing a college t-shirt.
Opportunities to earn free jeans days! Participate in any or all of the suggested activities below to earn free jeans day coupons to use later in the year.
· Bring your college diploma, college logo, or pennant to share with students. While sharing your diploma, discuss several of the skills that helped you be successful.
· Community Circle topics and classroom activities
Discuss study skills and motivation necessary to be successful in college or other post secondary options.
What are some things you are learning now that will help prepare you for your career choice?
How will doing well in school now help your reach your career goals?
What college do you want to attend and why? Allow students time to locate different colleges on a map.
What do you want to be when you grow up? What kind of degree will you need for that profession? What subjects do you need to study to help you prepare for that career?
Have fun and be creative with the activities. To earn free jeans coupons, please send a picture to Lynne B. to document any activity that you do. An added bonus is that you might find your picture on the MWE FB page.

Boo! Buddies
We are going to be doing Boo! Buddies the last week of October. (it's like Secret Santa).
Here’s how it works:
- Audrey will have a staff list in the lounge next week with slips to fill out with your favorites (snacks, drinks, candy).
- You will need to highlight your name on the staff list so we know who is participating.
- Fill out your slip, fold it and put it back in the basket.
- You have until October 14th to sign up. The week of October 17th, Audrey will come around to let you draw your boddy.
- The week of October 24th you will deliver small, ‘boo’ gifts/treats to your buddy (use a student to deliver or drop it in their box) each day Monday through Thursday.
- Friday morning - October 28th - we will all reveal ourselves with a special treat/gift.
Technology
- Be sure to turn off the computer before putting it in the bag. It may overheat and damage the battery if not.
- Do not always leave it on the charger. Let the battery discharge.
- If you want to be able to access the different drives at home, please install Forticlient and follow the directions on the Ed Tech webpage while at home to get VPN (virtual private network).
- Youtube is blocked for students but you can access it on staff machines.
- If your laptop or other technology equipment is stolen or damaged, please report it to Shirley right away. We will take care of notifying the SBISD police, if necessary.
