Rosehill College
From the Principal
Tēnā koutou katoa,
In 2006, I joined Rosehill College as a Deputy Principal and mathematics teacher. Over the years, I have had the pleasure of seeing our ākonga grow to be confident young people and I have enjoyed their many successes, whether those be academic achievement, performances in cultural, arts, drama, dance and music or playing for the College in their chosen sport.
On many of these occasions, I have been delighted to receive accolades from outside the College community about how well our students represent themselves, their whānau and their school. The richness of experience for our students is only possible because of the efforts of staff, parents and other members of the wider community. I thank all of you for the work and time you have given.
I was appointed Principal eight years ago and I have appreciated the support of our Board, our staff, our community and our students as we have navigated difficult times, particularly during the past two and a half years of Covid. I have been moved by the farewell assemblies and functions and the words given me by students and others, and I thank all those involved in making my farewell a very special occasion.
I wish you a happy and safe holiday, and every success in the future.
Nga mihi nui

Pūhoro STEMM tauira update
On Friday our Pūhoro STEMM tauira in Years 11 and 12 attended a Wānanga hosted at AUT South Campus. It was an amazing opportunity for our tauira to connect with the wider Pūhoro whānau and engage in a variety of STEMM activities, such as designing electric propellers which were used to extinguish the flames of Mahuika, and career exposure by ESR & Plant and Food Research. Some tauira were also gifted a beautiful hoodie to acknowledge their commitment to attending their Thursday morning Pūhoro sessions.
Any Māori tauira taking Science or Maths at a senior level interested in joining Pūhoro STEMM can contact Mrs Duckett (a.duckett@rosehillcollege.school.nz) or Whaea Kahmil (k.niupalau@rosehillcollege.school.nz).
